World Triathlon Cup
The World Triathlon Cup is an annual series of triathlon races staged around the world. The series is organised by the World Triathlon, the world governing body of the sport. Inaugurated in 1991, the World Cup began as an attempt to create a regular season under its management in tandem with the ITU Triathlon World Championship race. However, this meant that there was a World Cup champion as well as a world champion. Following the 2008 series the ITU reorganized its top level competitions and created the World Triathlon Series, a series of races that was to be the successor of the World Championship. Meanwhile, the World Cup was relegated to become a second tier series, as a result the number of races in the World Cup were reduced. Since the reformat, points earned in World Cup racing are now applied only to an athlete's World Ranking. Triathlon
A triathlon is an endurance multisport race consisting of Swimming (sport), swimming, Cycle sport, cycling, and running over various distances. Triathletes compete for fastest overall completion time, racing each segment sequentially with the time transitioning between the disciplines included. The word is of Greek language, Greek origin, from τρεῖς or ''treis'' (three) and ἆθλος or ''athlos'' (competition). The sport originated in the late 1970s in Southern California as sports clubs and individuals developed the sport. Annabel Luxford
Annabel Luxford (born 2 March 1982) is an Australian triathlete. In International Triathlon Union (ITU) competition she is the 2005 ITU Triathlon World Cup series champion and the silver medalist at the 2005 ITU Triathlon World Championships. In 2004, she was the ITU under-23 World Champion and also finished second in the ITU Triathlon World Cup standings. In 2013, after changing to non-drafing long course racing, she finished third at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. Career Luxford was born in Sydney, Australia and grew up in Hobart and Brisbane. At the age of ten she competed at the national Cross Country Championships, finishing first in the 2000m event. Hunter Craig Kemper (born May 4, 1976) is a triathlete from the United States. He won the silver medal at the 1999 Pan American Games, behind Venezuela's Gilberto González, followed by winning gold four years later at the 2003 Pan American Games. Kemper was on four U.S. Olympic teams as a triathlete, competing at the Summer Olympics in 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012. Anja Dittmer (born 22 September 1975 in Neubrandenburg) is a German professional triathlete. Dittmer is the only female member of the A-Team ''(ASICS Olympia Team)'' of the National Squad, the only female four-time Olympian (Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012), 1999 European Champion and 2006 European vice Champion. Siri Lindley (born May 26, 1969) is an American triathlon coach and former professional triathlete. She is the 2001 ITU Triathlon World Champion as well as the winner of the 2001 and 2002 ITU Triathlon World Cup series and 2001 ITU Aquathlon World Championships. She has coached a number of Olympic and Ironman athletes and champions, including Mirinda Carfrae, Leanda Cave, Sarah True, and Susan Williams.
