The FIA World Rallycross Championship (official abbreviation is World RX) is a rallycross series organised by the FIA in conjunction with series promoter Rallycross Promoter GmbH (founded by Red Bull and KW25). Intercity Istanbul Park ( tr, İstanbul Park), also known as the Istanbul Racing Circuit or initially as the Istanbul Otodrom, is a motor sports race track in the Tuzla, Istanbul, Tuzla district of Istanbul, Turkey. It was designed by the well-known racetrack architect Hermann Tilke and was inaugurated on 19–21 August 2005. Tuzla, Istanbul
Tuzla is a municipality of the province in Istanbul, Turkey on the Asian side of the city next to the municipality of Pendik. Tuzla is on a headland on the coast of Marmara Sea, at the eastern limit of the city. The mayor is Şadi Yazıcı ( AKP). History The Greek name for the headland was Akritas (Ακρίτας). The 2014 World RX of Turkey was the 11th round of the 2014 FIA World Rallycross Championship season, inaugural season of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. The event was held at Istanbul Park in Tuzla, Istanbul. Tanner Foust and Ken Block were entered in the event but pulled out on the advice of the United States, American government due to Turkish involvement in the Syrian civil war. Toomas "Topi" Heikkinen (born 27 March 1991) is a rallycross and ice-racing driver from Finland. He won the Finnish Rallycross Championship in 2010 and the Global Rallycross Championship in 2013. He currently competes in the FIA World Rallycross Championship Supercar category, driving for EKS racing team. Heikkinen began his racing career in karting, later moving up to single-seater formula. He switched to rallycross in 2010. Kenneth Timmy Hansen (born 21 May 1992) is a rallycross driver from Sweden. He won the 2019 FIA World Rallycross Championship in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, driving for Team Peugeot-Hansen. His father is the 14-times European Rallycross Champion Kenneth Hansen, his mother the 1994 ERA European Cup (Group N up to 1400cc) winner Susann Hansen (née Bergvall), and his brother rallycross driver Kevin Hansen. Andreas Bakkerud
Andreas Bakkerud (born 10 October 1991) is a rallycross driver from Bergen, Norway. He has competed in the FIA Rallycross Supercar class since 2013 in both Euro RX and World RX, and Nitro Rallycross since 2021. He became European Champion in 2021. Biography Bakkerud won the FIA European Rallycross Championship in the Super1600 category twice, in 2011 and 2012. He entered the FIA European Rallycross Supercar class in 2013 with a private Citroën DS3, finishing fourth with two wins. In 2014 he joined the FIA World Rallycross Championship Supercar class, driving a Ford-supported Olsbergs MSE Fiesta. He got two wins and three second-place finishes, and placed fifth in the overall standings. In 2015 he scored a win, three podiums and eight top 5s, which put him fourth in the Supercar drivers championship.
