World Junior Figure Skating Championships
The World Junior Figure Skating Championships (''"World Juniors"'' or ''"Junior Worlds"'') is an annual figure skating competition sanctioned by the International Skating Union in which figure skaters within a designated age range compete for the title of World Junior champion. The ISU guidelines for junior eligibility have varied throughout the years – currently, skaters must be at least 13 years old but not yet 19 before the previous 1 July, except for men competing in pair skating and ice dancing where the age maximum is 21. This event is one of the four annual ISU figure skating Championships and is considered the most prestigious international competition for juniors. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Dennis Coi
Dennis Coi (11 August 1961 – 1 September 1987) was a Canadian figure skater. He was the 1978 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, World Junior Champion and the 1982 Canadian Figure Skating Championships, Canadian bronze medallist. Coi also competed in pair skating; with partner Julie Mutchen, he was the 1974 Canadian novice bronze medallist. Coi was gay, although he did not come out even to his own family until being diagnosed with HIV. He died of AIDS in 1987, amid a spate of AIDS-related deaths of Canadian figure skaters, including Brian Pockar, Robert McCall (figure skater), Robert McCall and Shaun McGill, which was portrayed in the media as a major crisis for the sport. Yuri Bureiko
Yuri Bureiko (born 21 June 1967) is a former competitive figure skater who represented the Soviet Union. He is the 1981 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, 1981 World Junior silver medalist. After retiring from competition, Bureiko performed in various ice shows in "Hot Ice" in Blackpool, England. After being skating director in Romford and head coach of free skating in National Ice centre in Nottingham he opened his own school of skating ("International School of Skating") in partnership with biggest ice rink operating company in Europe - Planet Ice. Today ISS is located in Coventry and Milton Keynes. The school has been involved in short term projects with Cardiff, Altrincham, Cannock and Uttoxeter ice rinks. Paul Wylie
Paul Stanton Wylie (born October 28, 1964) is an American figure skater, and the 1992 Olympic silver medalist in men's singles skating. Personal life Paul Stanton Wylie was born on October 24, 1964 in Dallas, Texas to Bob Wylie (a geophysicist) and B.L. Wylie (a realtor) — the youngest of three children. In Dallas, he attended St. Mark's School of Texas. When he was eleven, his family moved to Denver, Colorado, where he focused increasingly on skating and graduated from Colorado Academy. Wylie attended Harvard University and graduated in 1991 with a degree in government. After competing in the 1992 Winter Olympics, as he planned, he retired from amateur competition and began his professional skating career. Falko Kirsten
Falko Kirsten (born 3 January 1964) is a German former figure skater. He is the 1980 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, World Junior bronze medalist, the 1983 St. Ivel International bronze medalist, and a five-time East German Figure Skating Championships, East German national champion. He competed at six European Championships, finishing twice in the top five; five World Championships; and the Figure skating at the 1984 Winter Olympics, 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, finishing 16th. Alexandre Vladimirovich "Sasha" Fadeev (russian: Александр Владимирович Фадеев; born 4 January 1964) is a Russian former competitive figure skater who represented the Soviet Union. Fadeyev is the 1985 World champion and a four-time European champion. Personal life Alexandre "Sasha" Fadeev was born in Kazan, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. He is married to a Canadian figure skater, Cydèle Fadeeva, and resides in Illinois. Career Fadeev won bronze at the 1979 World Junior Championships and then gold the following year. In the 1983–84 season, he won his first European title and stepped onto his first World podium, taking the bronze medal. Bobby Beauchamp
Bobby Beauchamp (born 1962) is an American former competitive figure skater. He is the 1979 World Junior silver medalist, 1983 Skate America bronze medalist, and 1983 U.S. national pewter medalist. He won the bronze medal at the 1987 World Professional Championships in Jaca, Spain. Beauchamp was raised in Culver City, California. He began skating as a nine-year-old, as a form of physical therapy, having been born with a club foot affecting his left leg. He trained at the Culver City Ice Arena and the Santa Monica Ice Chalet, coached by Mabel Fairbanks and John Nicks. After ending his competitive career, Beauchamp skated with the Ice Capades. Vitaliy Viktorovych Yehorov or Vitali Egorov ( uk, Віталій Вікторович Єгоров, born 23 March 1964) is a former competitive figure skater for the Soviet Union. He is the 1986 Skate Canada International champion, the 1986 Nebelhorn Trophy champion, the 1979 World Junior Figure Skating Championships, World Junior champion, a two-time (1983, 1987) Figure skating at the Winter Universiade, Winter Universiade silver medalist, and the 1984 Soviet Figure Skating Championships, Soviet national champion.
