Wooloowin is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Wooloowin had a population of 3,938 people. Geography Wooloowin is an inner-north suburb of Brisbane, Australia located approximately 5–6 km north of the city's central business district. History The origin of the suburb's name has been attributed to either the local Indigenous Australian term for a pigeon or the term for a species of fish. It was the home of Brisbane's first Resident Judge, Alfred Lutwyche, who lived in Kedron Lodge. Holy Cross Primary School opened in 1889. A stump-capping ceremony for Wooloowin Methodist Church was held on Saturday 30 November 1901. The site was on Old Sandgate Road at the junction with Bayview Terrace (now 170 Bonney Avenue). While the church was being built, it was destroyed by a cyclone in January 1901. The church was re-built and opened on Sunday 13 April 1902 by Reverend Robert Stewart, President of the Queensland Methodist Conference. In 1975 ... The Shorncliffe railway line is an suburban railway line situated north of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Queensland Rail City network. History The Sandgate Railway, opened in 1882, was the first truly suburban railway in Brisbane, built to provide convenient access to the seaside for the city's residents. The terminus was originally named Sandgate and was renamed Shorncliffe in 1938. The current Sandgate station was originally named Sandgate Central. The line allowed Brisbane residents to travel to Moreton Bay's shoreline at Shorncliffe. Duplication was completed by December 1901. Shorncliffe railway station is the terminus station of the Shorncliffe line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the Brisbane suburb of Shorncliffe. History The railway line from Brisbane to Sandgate opened in 1882, and the terminal station, located near Curlew Street, was named Sandgate. The line was extended to Shorncliffe in 1897, and the name Sandgate was transferred to the new terminal station. In 1938 it was renamed Shorncliffe. The line allowed Brisbane residents to travel to the water of Moreton Bay's Shorncliffe shoreline. Beyond the station lie two sidings used to stable trains overnight. Doomben railway station is the terminal station of the Pinkenba line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the Brisbane suburb of Ascot adjacent to Doomben Racecourse. History The Pinkenba line opened on 1 April 1897 to Pinkenba. A station for Doomben Racecourse was opened in 1909 alongside the Nudgee Road level crossing, and in 1976 a new station named Whinstanes-Doomben opened slightly farther east; Whinstanes was the name of the industrial branch line that crosses Kingsford Smith Drive to the Hamilton Cold Stores. The station was renamed Doomben when the line was electrified on 6 February 1988. All passenger services on the line were suspended on 27 September 1993 as part of a statewide rationalisation of the rail network with the closing or suspending of under-utilised or unprofitable rail lines. Domestic Terminal Railway Station, Brisbane
Domestic Terminal railway station is the terminus station of the Airport line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the Domestic Terminal at Brisbane Airport, opening on 5 May 2001 at the same time as the line. The station along with the line is owned and operated by Airtrain Citylink under a BOOT scheme. It will pass to Queensland Rail ownership in 2036. Services are operated by City network. Although TransLink's go card is able to be used, the station is not included in the TransLink fare structure, with Airtrain able to charge a premium fare. Manly Railway Station
Manly railway station is located on the Cleveland line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the Brisbane suburb of Manly. History Manly station opened in 1888 as the original terminus of the line. The line was later extended to the original Cleveland station in 1889. In 1992, the original timber station was demolished after becoming infested with termites. To the west of the station lies a City network stabling yard. Services Manly is served by Cleveland line services from Shorncliffe, Northgate, Doomben and Bowen Hills to Cleveland. During morning peak hour 7 trains begin their service at Manly while 6 services from Cleveland during the same time run express Manly-Morningside. Cleveland Railway Station
Cleveland railway station is located on the Cleveland line in Queensland, Australia. It serves the suburb of Cleveland in the Redland City. History In 1889, the Cleveland line was extended from Manly to the original Cleveland station. In 1897, the line was extended to the second Cleveland station. Cleveland station opened as the Raby Bay railway station in 1914. On 1 November 1960, the station closed when the line was truncated to Lota. When the station reopened on 24 October 1987, the former Raby Bay station became the third to carry the name Cleveland. Incidents On 31 January 2013, a passenger train, IMU173, overshot the railway line and collided with the station, severely damaging a toilet block and the railway station and injuring 14 people. Park Road Railway Station
Park Road railway station is the junction station for the Gold Coast and Cleveland lines in Queensland, Australia. It serves the Brisbane suburb of Woolloongabba. It is served by Beenleigh, Cleveland and Gold Coast line services. Immediately south of the station lies a triangle junction with the Cleveland and Fisherman Islands lines branching off. History In September 1930, the standard gauge NSW North Coast line opened to the west of the station. On 12 November 1942, a wartime siding opened at Park Road, followed by a second on 28 February 1944. After falling out of use in 1945, the yard was reactivated in 1949.
