Woolooware
Woolooware is a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Woolooware is located south of the Sydney central business district in the Sutherland Shire. It shares the 2230 postcode with Cronulla. Woolooware stretches from Woolooware Bay in the north on the Georges River estuary to Burraneer Bay and Gunnamatta Bay in the south on the Hacking River and Port Hacking estuary. It borders the suburbs of Cronulla, Caringbah, Burraneer and Kurnell. History Woolooware is derived from the Aboriginal word , meaning muddy track. It echoes the area's natural low lying mud flats, salt marsh and once dominant tea tree and black wattle scrub. It was originally a thickly forested area with tea tree, black wattle scrub and mangrove swamps around Woolooware Bay. Those were later reclaimed to create parks and playing fields including Endeavour Field, Woolooware Golf Course and Cronulla Golf Course. Woolooware Bay
The Woolooware Bay is a bay on the lower estuarine Georges River in Southern Sydney, southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Location and features The bay is located near where the Georges River empties into Botany Bay, southeast of the Captain Cook Bridge, New South Wales, Captain Cook Bridge. The bay's catchment area is bound by Botany Bay to the north, Bate Bay sub-catchment to the east, Gwawley Bay sub-catchment to the west and Port Hacking sub-catchment to the south. The bay is surrounded by the suburbs of to the east, to the south, and and to the west of the bay's shore. Mangrove swamps were traditionally located around the bay area. Woolooware Railway Station
Woolooware railway station is located on the Cronulla line, serving the Sydney suburb of Woolooware. It is served by Sydney Trains T4 line services. The Burraneer Bay is a bay on the lower estuarine Hacking River of Port Hacking in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Port Hacking Estuary ( Aboriginal Tharawal language: ''Deeban''), an open youthful tide dominated, drowned valley estuary, is located in southern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia approximately south of Sydney central business district. Gunnamatta Bay
The Gunnamatta Bay is a small bay in southern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Gunnamatta Bay is located off the Port Hacking estuary, in the Sutherland Shire. The foreshore is a natural boundary for the suburbs of Cronulla to the east, Woolooware to the north and Burraneer to the west. Transport Cronulla and National Park Ferry Cruises operate a ferry service from the wharf on Gunnamatta Bay, which provides a link between Cronulla and Bundeena across Port Hacking, on the edge of the Royal National Park.
