Woodvale is a locality in the City of Greater Bendigo, in the Australian state of Victoria (Australia), Victoria. History Woodvale was first occupied by the Dja Dja Wurrung people who called the area "Nerring". European settlement in Woodvale began in 1845 when the locality was located in Myers Flat, Victoria, Myers Flat, Then known as "Myers Creek". Woodvale, Western Australia
Woodvale is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Joondalup and the City of Wanneroo. At the 2016 census Woodvale had a population of 9,276. Woodvale is bounded to the south by Whitfords Avenue, to the west by the Mitchell Freeway, to the north by Ocean Reef Road and to the east by Wanneroo Road. Trappers Drive runs through Woodvale, from Whitfords Avenue to Ocean Reef Road. The area within and around Woodvale was primarily rural until the late 1970s. Residential development began in 1979 and was completed by 1995 with the release of the Woodvale Waters housing estate. No farming properties remain in Woodvale. Many immigrants have settled in Woodvale, with 21.2% of residents born in the British Isles and 3.1% born in South Africa, in both cases twice the Western Australian average and four times the Australian average. Woodvale, a division of Belfast, was a UK parliamentary constituency in Ireland. It returned one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons of the United Kingdom from 1918 to 1922, using the first past the post electoral system. Boundaries and Boundary Changes The constituency was created by the Redistribution of Seats (Ireland) Act 1918 from an area which had been in the Belfast West constituency. It comprised the northern third of west Belfast, and contained the then Court and Woodvale wards of Belfast Corporation. Royal Air Force Woodvale or RAF Woodvale is a Royal Air Force Station located next to the towns of Formby and Ainsdale in an area called Woodvale which is located to the south of Southport, Merseyside. Woodvale was constructed as an all-weather night fighter airfield for the defence of Liverpool. However, it did not open until 7 December 1941 which was just after the Liverpool Blitz which peaked in May of that year. History Second World War Woodvale opened in December 1941, six months after the end of the Liverpool Blitz. It was used for short periods by RAF squadrons that were rotated out of the zones in southern of England closest to German-occupied Europe. During their time at Woodvale, squadrons defended Merseyside. Polish 308 (Krakowski) Squadron was the first to arrive, on 12 December 1941, from RAF Northolt before leaving on 1 April 1942. Woodvale Historic District is a national historic district located at Broad Top Township, Bedford County; Wells Township, Fulton County; and Wood Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. The district includes 79 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 2 contributing structures in the coal mining community of Woodvale. The buildings date between about 1890 and 1942, and include industrial buildings, institutional buildings, and vernacular worker's housing. They were built by the Rockhill Iron and Coal Company.
