Woodthorpe, North Yorkshire
Woodthorpe is a suburb in the south west of the city of York, in the unparished area of York, in the York district, in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England. The surrounding areas are Dringhouses and Foxwood. The area of Woodthorpe was built in several phases from the 1960s to the 1990s. The name Woodthorpe is believed to have been the name of one of the first large housing development projects around the Moorcroft Road and Acorn Way area and this name has stuck. Locally the name Woodthorpe is generally used for the areas south of Acomb Wood and east to Moorcroft Road and Acorn Way. To the east is Dringhouses, to the north is Foxwood, and to the west is Acomb Park. In January 2017 the suburb made national headlines when seven year old Katie Rough was killed by asphyxiation and stabbed in the neck near her home by a 15-year-old female. City Of York
The City of York is a unitary authority area with city status in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England. York

Unparished Area
In England, an unparished area is an area that is not covered by a civil parish (the lowest level of local government, not to be confused with an ecclesiastical parish). Most urbanised districts of England are either entirely or partly unparished. Many towns and some cities in otherwise rural districts are also unparished areas and therefore no longer have a town council or city council, and are instead directly managed by a higher local authority such as a district or county council. Until the mid-nineteenth century there had been many areas that did not belong to any parish, known as extra-parochial areas. Dringhouses is a suburb, formerly a village, in York, in the unparished area of York, in the York district, in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is bounded by the Knavesmire, an open area of land on which York Racecourse is situated, to the east, Askham Bog and the A64 to the south, Woodthorpe and Foxwood to the west, and Acomb and Holgate to the north. Acomb Park
Acomb , is a village and suburb within the City of York Unitary authorities of England, unitary authority area, to the western side of York, England. It covers the site of the original village of the same name, which is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. It is bordered by the suburbs of Holgate, to the east, Clifton, York, Clifton, to the north and Woodthorpe, North Yorkshire, Woodthorpe to the south. Killing Of Katie Rough
Katie Sharon Rough (16 January 2009 – 9 January 2017), a 7-year old English girl, died in the Woodthorpe area of her hometown of York in the United Kingdom, on 9 January 2017. She was killed by a girl aged 15 years old at the time, who handed herself in to the police immediately after attacking Rough. Under UK law, Rough's killer was considered a minor at the time of the killing, and so her name was not made publicly known in the subsequent investigation and trial. Rough's killer pleaded guilty to manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility. It emerged that the teenager had been suffering from psychosis at the time of the attack, caused by an unknown psychiatric disorder and she was subsequently sentenced to a minimum of five years' detention on 24 November 2017. York High School is a mixed secondary school in York, North Yorkshire, England. It has a comprehensive admissions policy, and in 2016 had an enrolment of 757 pupils ages 11–16. History York High School was established through the 2007 merger of Oaklands School and Lowfield School. The new school initially operated on the site of Lowfield School, expanded with temporary buildings, while a new school was constructed on the site of Oaklands School. Millthorpe School is a mixed secondary school located in York, North Yorkshire, England. It is situated in South Bank, York, and can be accessed via Scarcroft Road (the A59). It is close to two primary schools, Scarcroft Primary School and Knavesmire Primary School.
