Woo Po-shing
Sir Po-shing Woo, LLD, FCIArb, FIMgt, FInstD, FHKMA (, born 19 April 1929) is a Hong Kong solicitor, entrepreneur, politician and philanthropist. Biography Woo was born on 19 April 1929 in Hong Kong to a wealthy family of Seaward Woo and Ng Chiu-man. He was educated at the La Salle College and King's College of London. He was admitted to practice as solicitor in England and in Hong Kong in 1960 and became Notary Public in 1966. He founded the Woo Kwan Lee & Lo, Solicitors and Notaries in 1963 and was the consultant of the law firm. In 1983, he was admitted to practice as barrister and solicitor at the Supreme Court of Victoria in Australia. He is also consultant of Jackson Woo & Associates, his son's firm. Urban Council
The Urban Council (UrbCo) was a municipal council in Hong Kong responsible for municipal services on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon (including New Kowloon). These services were provided by the council's executive arm, the Urban Services Department. Later, the equivalent body for the New Territories was the Regional Council. The council was founded as the Sanitary Board in 1883. It was renamed the Urban Council when new legislation was passed in 1936 expanding its mandate. In 1973 the council was reorganised under non-government control and became financially autonomous. Cheung Wing-in, JP (; 1920 – 10 September 2010) was a Hong Kong solicitor, educator and politician. Biography He was born in Canton, China in 1920. He graduated from Queen's College, Hong Kong in 1939 and was educated at the University of Hong Kong, studying Literature. In 1953, he obtained the qualification of solicitor in England and opened his own law firm in 1967. He later became notary public and among the first China-appointed attesting officers, He was awarded honorary member of the Law Society of Hong Kong in 2002. Hong Kong Derby
The Hong Kong Derby is a Hong Kong Thoroughbred horse race held annually since 1873. Restricted to horses four-years-old only since 1981, the race is run in mid-March and is the premier event on the domestic racing programme with a purse of HK$18 million (app. US$2.3 million). This race is the last race in the Hong Kong Four-Year-Old Classic Series. The first Hong Kong Derby was raced at Happy Valley Racecourse but in 1979 was transferred permanently to its present location at Sha Tin Racecourse. Stardome Observatory (IAU observatory code 467, previously known as Auckland Observatory) is a public astronomical observatory situated in Maungakiekie/One Tree Hill Domain in Auckland, New Zealand.
