Wong Nai Siong
Wong Nai Siong (; Bàng-uâ-cê: Uòng Nāi-siòng) (1849—1924) as a Chinese revolutionary leader and educator from Minqing county in Fuzhou, Fujian province, China. He served in The Methodist Episcopal Church for many years and participated in the "Ten Thousand Word Memorial" or the "Memorial of the Examination Candidates" Petition (Gongche Shangshu movement) in 1895. He also took part in the Hundred Days' Reform in 1898 and the 1911 Xinhai Revolution which resulted in the founding of the Republic of China. Wong led people from Fujian province to migrate to Sibu, Sarawak. Early life, conversion and education Wong was born in Minqing County, Fujian Province, where his father was a carpenter. He did farm work to help provide for his family, studying at the same time. Anne Pang
Anne Pi-Yau Pang (黄碧瑶 Huang Bi-yao) (born 23 October 1958), is a scholar and the author of the first published English books on the life of her great-grandfather, the historical figure Chinese reformer Wong Nai Siong. As a martial artist Pang has developed a system of women's self defence. She is a noted Australian Chinese businesswoman and community figure, speaking publicly on issues of racial discrimination in Australia. Pang ran an art gallery specializing in Australian art. Lung Ying-tai (; born 13 February 1952 in Kaohsiung) is a Taiwanese essayist and cultural critic. She occasionally writes under the pen name 'Hu Meili' (). Lung's poignant and critical essays contributed to the democratization of Taiwan and as the only Taiwanese writer with a column in major mainland Chinese newspapers, she is a writer in Mainland China. Described as a "public intellectual of the Chinese-speaking world", she spent 20 years based outside Taiwan in the US and Germany where became widely known for her criticism of the Kuomintang's martial law regime. She has since become a critic of Mainland China's increasing restrictions on press freedom and civil liberties. She has written more than 30 books.
