Women Adriatic Basketball Association
WABA League, commonly known as the Adriatic League, is a top-level regional basketball league, featuring female teams from Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Croatia. Clubs from Austria, Turkey, Hungary and Italy had their representatives in WABA League in past seasons. Since 2012 a Cadet WABA League and since 2014 Pionir WABA League is also played. History Formation and early years WABA League was established in 2001 as EWWL League. In its first season it included six teams from four countries (Austria, Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina). After the regular season, it held a tournament in which the three best teams played, which was won by Athlete Celje. Next season the league expanded from six to eight teams, and the final tournament was altered so that the placement included the four top teams. Ženski košarkaški klub Željezničar Sarajevo ( en, Women's Basketball Club Željezničar Sarajevo) is a Bosnian women's basketball team from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. History In 1982. ŽKK Maribor
Železničarski košarkarski klub Maribor, commonly referred to as ŽKK Maribor or simply ŽKK, was a basketball team based in Maribor, Slovenia. The club was founded in 1946 and was dissolved after the 2005–06 season due to financial difficulties. History The club was founded in 1946 as a basketball section of SŠD Železničar. It won its first Slovenian title in 1949 and renamed as ŽKK Maribor in 1954. Ženski Košarkaški Klub Trešnjevka 2009 is a Croatian women's basketball club from Zagreb currently playing in the First League of Croatia. Its major success was winning the Ronchetti Cup in 1980 beating Maritsa Plovdiv in the final; it was the only Yugoslav team that won the competition. It also reached the final in 1976 and 1981, but lost to Slavia Prague and Spartak Moscow. Following the break-up of Yugoslavia it won three national cups between 1993 and 1996 and the national championship in 1999, remaining a regular in the Ronchetti Cup's preliminary rounds through the decade.
