Wojciech Buciarski
Wojciech Jan Buciarski (born 17 April 1950) is a retired Polish pole vaulter. He competed at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics and finished in tenth and fifth place, respectively. He won a silver medal at the 1975 European Athletics Indoor Championships with a jump of 5.30 m; the same year he set his personal best at 5.50 m. Buciarski is the father of Piotr Buciarski, an Olympic pole vaulter competing for Denmark, and father-in-law of Rachel Yurkovich, an American javelin thrower. As of 2013 he was living in Denmark and coaching Cathrine Larsåsen Cathrine Larsåsen (born 5 December 1986) is a Norway, Norwegian pole vaulter. She hails from Oslo and represents the club IL i BUL. She won the Norwegian championships ten times in a row between 2004 and 2013, although on the same result as Kat ..., a Norwegian pole vaulter. Athletics At The 1976 Summer Olympics – Men's Pole Vault
The men's pole vault competition featured in the athletics programme at the 1976 Summer Olympics and was held at the Olympic Stadium in Montréal on 24 and 26 July. Twenty-seven athletes from 13 nations competed. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. All three medallists tied the Olympic record mark of 5.50 metres. Tadeusz Ślusarski of Poland and Antti Kalliomäki of Finland both cleared all heights up to 5.50 m with no misses; Ślusarski passed two heights more than Kalliomäki, and won on the basis of fewer vaults in accordance with the rules of the time. American Dave Roberts, who also cleared 5.50 m on his first try but had one miss from an earlier height, took the bronze medal. Athletics At The 1976 Summer Olympics
At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, 37 events were contested in athletics. There were a total number of 1005 participating athletes from 80 countries. The men's 50 kilometres walk competition was dropped from the Olympic athletics programme, despite its constant presence at the games since 1932. The IAAF chose to host its own world championship event instead, a month and a half after the Olympics.
