The Wodonga Raiders Football & Netball Club is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the city of Wodonga. The Raiders' football and netball squads currently compete in the Ovens & Murray Football League. The origins of the club dates back to the Kergunyah Football Club. History Origins The "Kergunyah Football Club" was established in 1923, based in the small township of Kergunyah, Victoria is choose "''Red and White colours''" for its playing jumpers. Over the next few decades they spent time in the "''Allans Flat District Football Association''", the "''Yackandandah Football Association''", and the "''Dederang And District Football Association''". During this time they competed in two Grand Finals, the 1928 YFA-B Grade Grand Final where they were defeated by Yackandandah at Sandy Creek, and the 1937 DDFA Grand Final where they were defeated by Kiewa (10.5.65 - 11.9.75). Ovens & Murray Football League
The Ovens and Murray Football Netball League (O&MFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball competition containing ten clubs based in north-eastern Victoria, the southern Riverina region of New South Wales and the Ovens and Murray area. The name comes from the Ovens River, the river in the part of north-eastern Victoria covered by the league, and the Murray River, which separates Victoria and New South Wales. The league features three grades in the Australian rules football competition, with these being First-Grade, Reserve-Grade and Under 18s. In the netball competition, there are four grades, with these being A-Grade, B-Grade, C-Grade and Under 16s. Currently a home and away season consisting of eighteen rounds is played. The best five teams then play off according to the McIntyre System, culminating in the O&MFNL Grand Final, which from 1995 to 2017 was held at the Lavington Sports Ground in the Albury suburb of Hamilton Valley. Tallangatta & District Football League
The Tallangatta and District Football League (TDFL) is an Australian rules football competition in north-east Victoria and the southern border area of Riverina region of the New South Wales. The clubs compete across four competitions, two of which are age restricted (Under 17s, and Under 14s). Since 1980 the "Tallangatta & District Netball Association (TDNA)" has run in conjunction with the Tallangatta & District Football League. The clubs compete across six competitions, three of which are age restricted (18 & Under, 15 & Under, and 13 & Under). Today all of the 12 clubs across both the TDFL & TDNA are joint Football Netball Clubs, with the overall best club across all football and netball competitions for the season awarded the Club Championship. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Netball is a ball sport played on a court by two teams of seven players. It is among a rare number of sports which have been created exclusively for female competitors. Wodonga ( Waywurru: ''Wordonga'') is a city on the Victorian side of the border with New South Wales, north-east of Melbourne, Australia. It is located wholly within the boundaries of the City of Wodonga LGA. Its population is approximately 35,100 and is separated from its twin city in New South Wales, Albury, by the Murray River. Kergunyah
Kergunyah is a locality in north eastern Victoria. The locality is on the Kiewa Valley Highway, north east of the state capital, Melbourne. At the 2016 census Kergunyah had a population of 215. The town is a centre for (mainly) dairy farms and includes a post office agent, caravan park and general store, community hall and Uniting Church. The Kergunyah Streamside Reserve is a popular swimming area on a bend in the Kiewa River. The town was home to the Kergunyah Football Club which was established in 1923.
