The Benalla Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Saints'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in Benalla, Victoria. Its football and netball teams currently compete in the Goulburn Valley Football League. Ovens & Murray Football League
The Ovens and Murray Football Netball League (O&MFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball competition containing ten clubs based in north-eastern Victoria, the southern Riverina region of New South Wales and the Ovens and Murray area. The name comes from the Ovens River, the river in the part of north-eastern Victoria covered by the league, and the Murray River, which separates Victoria and New South Wales. The league features three grades in the Australian rules football competition, with these being First-Grade, Reserve-Grade and Under 18s. In the netball competition, there are four grades, with these being A-Grade, B-Grade, C-Grade and Under 16s. Currently a home and away season consisting of eighteen rounds is played. Sebastian Pasquali is an Australian professional football (soccer) player who plays for Western United in the A-League. Benalla All Blacks Football Club
Benalla is a small city located on the Broken River gateway to the High Country north-eastern region of Victoria, Australia, about north east of the state capital Melbourne. At the the population was 10,822. It is the administrative centre for the Rural City of Benalla local government area. History Prior to the European settlement of Australia, the Benalla region was populated by the Taungurung people, an Indigenous Australian people. A 1906 history recounts that prior to white settlement "as many as 400 blacks would meet together in the vicinity of Benalla to hold a corrobboree". Benjamin Ronke (born 18 December 1997) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was drafted by Sydney with their first selection and seventeenth overall in the 2017 rookie draft. He made his debut in the seventeen point win against at GMHBA Stadium kicking two goals in round six of the 2018 AFL season. In his third match, the Swans played against Hawthorn at the MCG, and Ronke became the first player to notch up seven goals and ten tackles in an AFL Match since the introduction of detailed statistics in the VFL/AFL in 1987. John Waddington (footballer)
John Waddington (24 May 1938 – 6 July 2019) was an Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Waddington, a half forward, originally from Beaufort, tried out with Melbourne in 1957, then topped the Bendigo Football League goal-kicking in 1957, with 72 goals for South Bendigo. The following year he arrived at North Melbourne and played all possible 20 games in his debut season. This included their four-point semi final win over Fitzroy, in which he contributed three goals. He remained a regular fixture in the team for the next eight years, mostly as a defender. It was as a centre half-back that he was selected for the Victorian interstate side in 1964. Waratah (''Telopea'') is an Australian-endemic genus of five species of large shrubs or small trees, native to the southeastern parts of Australia (New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania). The best-known species in this genus is ''Telopea speciosissima'', which has bright red flowers and is the New South Wales (NSW) state emblem. The waratah is a member of the family Proteaceae, flowering plants distributed in the Southern Hemisphere. The key diagnostic feature of Proteaceae is the inflorescence, which is often very large, brightly coloured and showy, consisting of many small flowers densely packed into a compact head or spike. Species of waratah boast such inflorescences ranging from 6–15 cm in diameter with a basal ring of coloured bracts.
