Wishpool
''Wishpool'' is the third and final studio album by American rock band Brother Cane, released March 31, 1998. It features the hit "I Lie in the Bed I Make," which was their second #1 single on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, maintaining that position for four weeks. Due to low album sales, however, Virgin released Brother Cane which disbanded soon after. Production ''Wishpool'' marked a different creative approach for Brother Cane; rather than writing about a dozen songs before entering the studio, the band took an extended period of time to write almost 40 songs, with the idea that the more songs they wrote, the more strong ones they would have to choose from. Frontman Damon Johnson has regarded ''Wishpool'' as "certainly my most personal statement as a lyricist and the body of work that I am most proud of." Brother Cane
Brother Cane is an American rock band that released three albums in the 1990s. Formed in Alabama in 1990 by singer and guitarist Damon Johnson and bassist Glenn Maxey, the line-up was completed by guitarist Roman Glick and drummer Scott Collier. The band's self-titled debut album was released in 1993, and after some line-up changes, this was followed by ''Seeds'' in 1995, and '' Wishpool'' in 1998. Brother Cane disbanded thereafter, but reformed in 2005, again in 2011, and are active again in 2022. Damon Johnson
Damon Rogers Johnson (born July 13, 1964) is an American guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, currently a solo artist and member of Thin Lizzy. In the 1990s he co-founded Brother Cane, and later joined Alice Cooper's band as lead guitarist. He was also the lead guitarist and co-songwriter for hard rock group Black Star Riders from 2012 to 2018. Johnson has also released several solo albums and his songs have been recorded by many artists including Stevie Nicks and Carlos Santana. Early career Johnson lived in Monroeville, Alabama during his grade school years. It was there that he became obsessed with guitar and formed his first garage band, called Renegade, with other 8th grade friends, Pat Buskill, Mac Baker, Allen Nettles and Troy Dobbins. ''Seeds'' is the second studio album by American rock band Brother Cane, released July 4, 1995 on Virgin Records. It features one of the group's most popular singles, "And Fools Shine On", which charted at #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks and ranked #5 on the year-end Top Hot Album Rock Tracks list. That same year, "Fools Shine On" was featured on the '' Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers'' soundtrack. In addition, "Hung On a Rope", "20/20 Faith", and "Horses & Needles" were also featured in the film. Reception Brother Cane's sophomore effort was not reviewed by many significant publications. Taylor Laurence Rhodes is an American songwriter, producer, and musician from Nashville, Tennessee, most notable for his work with hard rock band Aerosmith since 1993. Music career 1980s In 1987, Rhodes co-wrote the lead-off minor hit title track from Y&T's album ''Contagious''. The following year, he co-wrote a single on fellow glam metal band Kix's commercial breakthrough album, ''Blow My Fuse''. Tommy Sims
Tommy Sims is an American bassist, songwriter, record producer and bandleader. Music career From 1987 to 1989 Sims was the bassist for the Christian rock band White Heart, which he left to become a studio musician and producer. During 1992-1993, he played bass on the Bruce Springsteen 1992–1993 World Tour. As a songwriter he co-wrote Eric Clapton's "Change the World", which won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1997. John Shanks
John Matthew Shanks (born December 18, 1964) is an American songwriter, record producer and guitarist. Early life and education John Matthew Shanks was born in New York City. Shanks moved to Los Angeles when he was 17 years old. He was in a band called Line One with future author Bret Easton Ellis. Career Shanks began playing in Melissa Etheridge's band in 1988 and toured with her for several years. Shanks enjoyed his first writing success in the early 1990s with tracks for Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker and Tuck & Patti. He also landed his first publishing deal.
