Wisconsin Highway 191
State Trunk Highway 191 (often called Highway 191, STH-191 or WIS 191) is a state highway in southeastern Iowa County in the US state of Wisconsin that runs east–west from Dodgeville to Hollandale. Route description Following East Division Street through town, WIS 191 starts in downtown Dodgeville at the intersection with WIS 23 (Iowa Street). The highway runs through some residential neighborhoods before exiting town. At the intersection with Bennett Road, WIS 191 turns to southeasterly through fields to run under US Highway 151 (US 151); the state highway lacks a direct connection with the latter freeway. WIS 191 turns to a more easterly course after the freeway, running through southwest Wisconsin farm country. Near Tom's Campground, the highway turns to follow a southeastward course toward Hollandale. Dodgeville, Wisconsin
Dodgeville is a city in and the county seat of Iowa County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 4,984 at the 2020 census, making it the county's most populous city. Dodgeville is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. History In 1827, Henry Dodge, his family, and about 40 miners began what would become the city of Dodgeville. Dodge made a pact with the local Winnebago Indian leaders so he could build a cabin and smelter. The original community had three settlements: "Dodgeville", "Dirty Hollow" and "Minersville". A fourth settlement, Moon Spring, near the intersection of the present Highway 18 bypass and Bennett Road flourished until the cholera epidemic in the early 1850s. Hollandale is a village in Iowa County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 306 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Madison Metropolitan Statistical Area. History The village was first named Bennville and later was named Hollandale.
