Wisconsin Assembly, District 74
The 74th Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in northern Wisconsin, the district comprises all of Ashland, Bayfield, Price, and Iron counties, along with southeast Douglas County and parts of northern Sawyer County. It includes the cities of Ashland, Bayfield, Park Falls, and Washburn, and the Bad River and Red Cliff Indian reservations. The district also contains the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Big Bay State Park, and most of the Chequamegon National Forest, as well as Timms Hill—the highest natural point in the state of Wisconsin. The district is represented by Republican Chanz Green, since January 2023. The 74th Assembly district is located within Wisconsin's 25th Senate district, along with the 73rd and 75th Assembly districts. Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa () is a band of Ojibwe Native Americans. The Red Cliff Band is located on the Red Cliff Indian Reservation, on Lake Superior in Bayfield County, Wisconsin. Red Cliff, Wisconsin, is the administrative center. Red Cliff is notable for being the band closest to the spiritual center of the Ojibwe nation, Madeline Island. As of November 2010, there were 5,312 enrolled members, with about half living on the reservation and the rest living in the city of Bayfield or the Belanger Settlement. History The Red Cliff Band is one of the successors of the Lake Superior Chippewa the group of Ojibwe that moved west along the south shore of Lake Superior from Sault Ste. Marie. Wisconsin's 7th congressional district is a congressional district of the United States House of Representatives in northwestern and central Wisconsin; it is the largest congressional district in the state geographically, covering 20 counties (in whole or part), for a total of 18,787 sq mi. Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest
The Chequamegon–Nicolet National Forest (; the ''q'' is silent) is a U.S. National Forest in northern Wisconsin in the United States. Due to logging in the early part of the 20th century, very little old growth forest remains. Some of the trees that grow there today were planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The national forest lands contain trees and vegetation corresponding to the North Woods Ecoregion that is prevalent throughout the upper Great Lakes region. Legally two separate national forests—the Chequamegon National Forest and the Nicolet National Forest—the areas were established by presidential proclamations in 1933 and have been managed as one unit since 1998.
