Wisconsin Assembly, District 23
The 23rd Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in southeastern Wisconsin, the district comprises parts of northeast Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, Milwaukee County and southeast Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, Ozaukee County. It includes the villages of Bayside, Wisconsin, Bayside, Brown Deer, Wisconsin, Brown Deer, Fox Point, Wisconsin, Fox Point, Thiensville, Wisconsin, Thiensville, and Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, Whitefish Bay, as well as a significant portion of the village of Mequon, Wisconsin, Mequon. The district is represented by Democratic Party (United States), Democrat Deb Andraca, since January 2021. Jim Ott
Jim Ott (born June 5, 1947) is an American politician and former television meteorologist. A Republican, he was a seven term member of the Wisconsin State Assembly representing assembly district 23, serving from 2007 to 2021. Before being elected to the Assembly, he was a broadcast meteorologist in Milwaukee for Journal Communications's ''WTMJ-TV'' and '' WTMJ-AM'' radio. Early life and career Jim Ott was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and graduated from Milwaukee's Washington High School in 1965. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 1970, and then joined the United States Army. He served three years in the Army with the U.S. Army Security Agency, including a tour in Vietnam in 1971–72. Following his Army service, he returned to school at UW–Milwaukee and obtained his master's degree in 1975. Curt Gielow
Curt Gielow (born. March 18, 1945) is an American Republican politician from Wisconsin. Born in Evansville, Indiana, Gielow received his degree in pharmacy from St. Louis College of Pharmacy and his masters from Washington University in St. Louis. Gielow served in the Wisconsin State Assembly 2003-2007. In 2010, Gielow was elected mayor of Mequon, Wisconsin and had served on the Mequon Common Council. As mayor of Mequon, Gielow began lifting some bans on building and changed some zoning laws to allow more commerce and thus, more business tax base, which in some cases was considered controversial. John La Fave
John La Fave (born July 13, 1949) is an American politician who served as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from the 23rd district from 1993 to 2003. Early life and education Born in Milwaukee, La Fave graduated from Wauwatosa West High School in 1967. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Wisconsin in 1971. Career He worked as a sales representative and an elementary school teacher before his 1992 election to the Wisconsin State Assembly. After leaving office in 2003, he became the register of deeds for Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. He retired in April 2019 after becoming subject to an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He subsequently pleaded guilty to a federal felony count of wire fraud and was sentenced to two years probation and to pay $89,000 in restitution to the county for participating in a false invoicing scheme. John Martin Antaramian (born September 21, 1954) is an American businessman and politician serving as the 50th mayor of Kenosha, Wisconsin. Prior to his re-election in 2016, Antaramian had served as the 48th mayor of Kenosha for 16 years and before that was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly.
