Jim Ott
Jim Ott (born June 5, 1947) is an American politician and former television meteorologist. A Republican, he was a seven term member of the Wisconsin State Assembly representing assembly district 23, serving from 2007 to 2021. Before being elected to the Assembly, he was a broadcast meteorologist in Milwaukee for Journal Communications's ''WTMJ-TV'' and '' WTMJ-AM'' radio. Early life and career Jim Ott was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and graduated from Milwaukee's Washington High School in 1965. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 1970, and then joined the United States Army. He served three years in the Army with the U.S. Army Security Agency, including a tour in Vietnam in 1971–72. Following his Army service, he returned to school at UW–Milwaukee and obtained his master's degree in 1975. Wisconsin Assembly, District 23
The 23rd Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in southeastern Wisconsin, the district comprises parts of northeast Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, Milwaukee County and southeast Ozaukee County, Wisconsin, Ozaukee County. It includes the villages of Bayside, Wisconsin, Bayside, Brown Deer, Wisconsin, Brown Deer, Fox Point, Wisconsin, Fox Point, Thiensville, Wisconsin, Thiensville, and Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, Whitefish Bay, as well as a significant portion of the village of Mequon, Wisconsin, Mequon. Wisconsin State Assembly
The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. Representatives are elected for two-year terms, elected during the fall elections. If a vacancy occurs in an Assembly seat between elections, it may be filled only by a special election. The Wisconsin Constitution limits the size of the State Assembly to between 54 and 100 members inclusive. Since 1973, the state has been divided into 99 Assembly districts apportioned amongst the state based on population as determined by the decennial census, for a total of 99 representatives. From 1848 to 1853 there were 66 assembly districts; from 1854 to 1856, 82 districts; from 1857 to 1861, 97 districts; and from 1862 to 1972, 100 districts. Carroll University
Carroll University is a private university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and located in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Established in 1846, Carroll was Wisconsin's first four-year institution of higher learning. History Prior to its establishment, what is now Carroll University was Prairieville Academy which was founded in 1841. The University of Wisconsin–Parkside (UWP) is a public university in Somers, Wisconsin. WTMJ (620 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Owned by Good Karma Brands, the station has a news/talk radio format. Its sign-on dates back to 1922 and for most of its history it was owned by ''The Milwaukee Journal'' newspaper. On weekdays, it airs news blocks during drive time, local talk shows in middays, sports in the evening and syndicated shows in late nights. It is the flagship station for Milwaukee Brewers baseball and Milwaukee Bucks basketball. By day, it transmits 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial AM radio stations.
