The Parkway ends at Grant Avenue ( Route 105), at which point Route 96 turns east and runs concurrently with Route 105 through the Assiniboine Forest. Route 85, also known as Portage Avenue, is a major arterial route in the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It is one of the city's oldest and most important roads and is part of both the Trans-Canada and Yellowhead Highways. Route description Route 85 begins in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, at the corner of Portage and Main (Route 52), and runs southwest through the downtown to Broadway. From Broadway to the west Perimeter Highway (PTH 100/101), it runs concurrently with the Trans-Canada Highway (PTH 1). Route 85 ends at the Perimeter Highway interchange, however, Portage Avenue and PTH 1 continue to the official city limit and into Headingley. Winnipeg Route 145
Route 145 is an arterial road in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It follows Wilkes Avenue and the Sterling Lyon Parkway, running east from an interchange at the Perimeter Highway (PTH 100) to Waverley Street ( Route 80). Heading west from Winnipeg, it continues as Provincial Road 427 into the Rural Municipality of Headingley. Wilkes Avenue runs parallel to the main Canadian National Railway line. Route 145 previously followed Wilkes Avenue in its entirety; however, a segment of Wilkes near Kenaston Boulevard ( Route 90) was demolished as part of the Kenaston Underpass project in 2005. Assiniboine River
The Assiniboine River (''; french: Rivière Assiniboine'') is a river that runs through the prairies of Western Canada in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. It is a tributary of the Red River of the North, Red River. The Assiniboine is a typical meandering river with a single main channel embanked within a flat, shallow valley in some places and a steep valley in others. Route 105 is a major east-west arterial route in the city of Winnipeg. It runs through the suburbs of Fort Rouge, River Heights, Tuxedo, and Charleswood. It is the eastern extension of Provincial Road 241, which runs westward to the communities of Headingley and Lido Plage. Within the city boundaries it connects the residential and light industrial areas west-southwest of downtown with the Pembina Highway and downtown. A concurrency in a road network is an instance of one physical roadway bearing two or more different route numbers. When two roadways share the same right-of-way, it is sometimes called a common section or commons. Charleswood is a semi-rural residential community and neighbourhood in the southwest corner of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Since at least the 1930s, Charleswood has been known as "The Suburb Beautiful." It composes part of the city ward of Charleswood - Tuxedo - Westwood; and is part of the provincial electoral district of Roblin (replacing the former electoral district of Charleswood). Assiniboine Park Zoo
Assiniboine Park Zoo is an zoo at the west end of Assiniboine Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It has been best known for decades for its polar bear exhibit, of which the old enclosure was replaced in 2013 with Journey to Churchill. Established in 1904, it is managed by the Assiniboine Park Conservancy, and accredited by the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA) and the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).
