Wim Pijbes
Willem Meint Jans "Wim" Pijbes (born 9 October 1961) is a Dutch art historian and emeritus General Director of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Pijbes' initiatives at the Rijksmuseum include the museum's complete refurbishment and reopening in April 2013 and the opening of the Philips Wing for photography and temporary exhibitions. In addition he developed and opened RIJKS®, the museum's restaurant. With the reopening of the Rijksmuseum, Pijbes also launched Rijksstudio; the first digital application to offer images of the museum's collection to everyone, free of charge. The Rijksmuseum was the first museum worldwide to ban copyrights and open the collection with a radical approach. The open-content museum dates to 2011, when the Rijksmuseum made the first of 208,000 images available for download at no cost after curators found more than 10,000 low-quality scans of one of its Vermeers online. Veendam () is a town and municipality with a population of 27,752 in the province of Groningen in the northeast of the Netherlands. Veendam was established in 1648 as a peat colony by Adriaan Geerts Wildervanck. A Holland America Line cruise ship, the MS ''Veendam'', is named after the city. The Rijksmuseum () is the national museum of the Netherlands dedicated to Dutch arts and history and is located in Amsterdam. Vermeer
Johannes Vermeer ( , , see below; also known as Jan Vermeer; October 1632 – 15 December 1675) was a Dutch Baroque Period painter who specialized in domestic interior scenes of middle-class life. During his lifetime, he was a moderately successful provincial genre painter, recognized in Delft and The Hague. Nonetheless, he produced relatively few paintings and evidently was not wealthy, leaving his wife and children in debt at his death. Vermeer worked slowly and with great care, and frequently used very expensive pigments. He is particularly renowned for his masterly treatment and use of light in his work. Droog (''droog'' is a Dutch word meaning "dry") is a conceptual Dutch design company situated in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Droog has realised products, projects, exhibitions and events. Droog is an internationally renowned design label and one of the most famous exponents of Dutch Design. Droog worked with well known designers such as Marcel Wanders, Hella Jongerius, Tejo Remy, Richard Hutten, Ed Annink, Jurgen Bey and Joris Laarman. Taco Dibbits (; born 7 September 1968) is an art historian from Amsterdam, Netherlands and director of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. Life and work Dibbits studied art history at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and the University of Cambridge. He first came to the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam as a junior staff member in 1995. From 1997 to 2002, he served as director of the Old Master Paintings department at Christie's, London. He returned to the Rijksmuseum as curator of 17th-century painting in 2002. As head of the department of Fine and Decorative Arts from 2006 to 2008, he led a team of curators of paintings, sculpture, applied art and Asiatic art at the Rijksmuseum.
