Kautenbach ( lb, Kautebaach) is a village in the commune of Kiischpelt, in northern Luxembourg. In 2005, the village had a population of 120. 1942 Luxembourg General Strike
The Luxembourgish general strike of 1942 was a manifestation of passive resistance when Luxembourg was occupied by Nazi Germany during World War II. The strikes opposed a directive that conscripted young Luxembourgers into the ''Wehrmacht''. A nationwide general strike, originating in Wiltz, paralysed the country and led to the occupying German authorities responding violently by sentencing 21 strikers to death. Origins Following the German invasion of Luxembourg on May 10, 1940, Luxembourg was briefly placed under military occupation. On August 2, 1940, the military government was dissolved and replaced by a civilian government under the leadership of the German civilian administrator of the adjoining German district. Wiltz Castle
Wiltz Castle (french: Château de Wiltz, german: Schloss Wiltz lb, Schlass Wolz), located in Wiltz in the north of Luxembourg, dates back to 1573. It is now known above all for hosting an annual music festival. Part of the castle now serves as the campus oEuropean Business University United Business Institutes and of BBI. History In the 13th century, the Lords of Wiltz built a fortified castle on a rocky promontory, initiating the development of the upper town of Wiltz. In 1388, the French attacked the town and burnt the castle down but it was soon repaired. In 1453, Wiltz was again attacked, this time by the troops of Philip the Good, Philip of Burgundy. The round Witches' Tower to the east of the gardens is the oldest part of today's castle. Under Count John VI of Wiltz, the construction of today's Renaissance architecture, Renaissiance style castle was begun in 1631. Erpeldange-sur-Sûre ( lb, Ierpeldeng op der Sauer , german: Erpeldingen an der Sauer ) is a commune and small town in north-eastern Luxembourg. It lies along the river Sûre, between Ettelbruck and Diekirch. It is part of the canton of Diekirch. , the town of Erpeldange, which lies in the centre of the commune, has a population of 818.
