Willy Schäfer (actor)
Willy Schäfer (6 March 1933 – 6 May 2011) was a German television actor. Schäfer is best known as ''Willi Berger'' on the television series ''Derrick'', a role he played in more than 190 of the series' 281 episodes. He was born in Saarbrücken, Territory of the Saar Basin, and died in Munich, Germany. ''Derrick'' is a German TV crime series produced between 1974 and 1998, starring Horst Tappert as Detective Chief Inspector (''Kriminaloberinspektor'') Stephan Derrick, and Fritz Wepper as Detective Sergeant (''Kriminalhauptmeister'') Harry Klein, his loyal assistant. The Territory of the Saar Basin (german: Saarbeckengebiet, ; french: Territoire du bassin de la Sarre) was a region of Germany occupied and governed by the United Kingdom and France from 1920 to 1935 under a League of Nations mandate. It had its own flag (adopted on July 28, 1920): a blue, white, and black horizontal tricolour. The blue and white stood for Bavaria, and white and black for Prussia, out of whose lands the Saar Territory was formed. Initially, the occupation was under the auspices of the Treaty of Versailles. Derrick
A derrick is a lifting device composed at minimum of one guyed mast, as in a gin pole, which may be articulated over a load by adjusting its guys. Most derricks have at least two components, either a guyed mast or self-supporting tower, and a boom hinged at its base to provide articulation, as in a ''stiffleg'' derrick. The most basic type of derrick is controlled by three or four lines connected to the top of the mast, which allow it both to move laterally and cant up and down. To lift a load, a separate line runs up and over the mast with a hook on its free end, as with a crane. Forms of derricks are commonly found aboard ships and at docking facilities.
