Willy Fleckhaus
Wilhelm August Fleckhaus (21 December 1925 – 12 September 1983) was a German designer and art director, perhaps best known as art director of ''Twen'' magazine throughout its 1959 to 1970 existence. He was a prolific designer of book covers. Fleckhaus was born in 1925 in Velbert, Germany. Twen
''Twen'' was a West German magazine that was published from 1959 to 1971, and known for its innovative design and typography. History and profile ''Twen'' was launched in 1959 as a bimonthly magazine and the first issue appeared in April 1959. The founders were Hans A. Nikel and Hans Hermann. However, there is another report citing the founders as Adolf Theobald and Stephen Wolf. In September 1961, the magazine became a monthly publication. Willy Fleckhaus was ''Twens art director throughout its existence. Notable photographers included Christa Peters. ''Twen'' was pitched at "people in their twenties, from 15 to 30", thus its name, ''Twen''. Velbert
Velbert ( Low Rhenish: ''Vèlbed'') is a town in the district of Mettmann, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The town is renowned worldwide for the production of locks and fittings. Geography Velbert is located on the hills of 'Niederberg' (meaning ''Lower Mountain''), part of the Berg region, approx. 20 kilometres north-east of the capital of North Rhine Westphalia, Düsseldorf, and 12 kilometers north-west of Wuppertal on the south side of the Ruhr river.
