Willie Joyce (Gaelic Footballer)
Willie Joyce (born 1950) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played as a midfielder for the Galway senior team. Joyce joined the team for a pre-season game in 1969 and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement at the end of the 1984 championship. During that time he won six Connacht medals, one National League medal and one All-Star award. He is almost unique in having lost four All-Ireland finals during his career. Killererin ( ga, Cill Fhir Iarainn) is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Tuam area in County Galway, Ireland. The club is a member of the Galway GAA. A Gaelic football club, Killererin fields underage teams up to U-16s play in the Galway league and championships. History Founded in 1889, the club was originally named Killererin John Dillon's. Competing for much of the 20th century in the junior grade, the club won its first county junior championship title in 1968. Promoted to senior grade, the club won the Galway Senior Football Championship in 1976. The club went on to win several club titles, and won its sixth county title defeating Corofin in October 2010. The Connacht Senior Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament played between senior clubs in Connacht, with one qualifying from each of the five individual county championships. The winners of the Connacht football championship qualify for the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. Connacht ( ; ga, Connachta or ), is one of the provinces of Ireland, in the west of Ireland. Until the ninth century it consisted of several independent major Gaelic kingdoms (Uí Fiachrach, Uí Briúin, Uí Maine, Conmhaícne, and Delbhna). Cyril Dunne (born 1941 in Ballinasloe, County Galway) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played for his local club St Grellan's GFC and at senior level for the Galway county team in the 1960s, when he won three consecutive All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals in 1964, 1965 and 1966. John Patrick Tobin (January 8, 1921 – January 18, 1982) was an American professional baseball player who appeared in 84 games, primarily as a third baseman, during his one season in Major League Baseball for the Boston Red Sox. Born in Oakland, California, he batted left-handed, threw right-handed, and was listed as tall and . His brother Jim was a major league pitcher from 1937 to 1945. Tobin attended Saint Mary's College of California. His pro career began in 1942 in the Red Sox' organization, then he was called to World War II military service and joined the United States Navy, missing the 1943 and 1944 seasons. In 1945, the last wartime season, he debuted with the American League Red Sox on April 19 as a pinch hitter; his brother, meanwhile, was entering his sixth and final year as member of Boston's National League team, the Braves. The Gaelic Athletic Association-Gaelic Players' Association All Stars Awards (often known simply as the All Stars) are awarded annually to the best player in each of the 15 playing positions in Gaelic football and hurling.
