Willie Hough
William Hough (4 May 1892 – 13 April 1976) was an Irish people, Irish hurling, hurler who played as a midfielder and as a centre-back for the Limerick GAA, Limerick senior team. Hough first came to prominence as captain of the Waterford GAA, Waterford team for the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1913, 1913 championship. Two years later he made his debut for Limerick GAA, Limerick and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1929, 1929 championship. During that time he won two All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland medals and three Munster Senior Hurling Championship, Munster medals. In 1918 Hough captained the team to the All-Ireland title. At club level Humphreys played with Monagea GAA, Monagea, De La Salle GAA, De La Salle and Newcastle West GAA, Newcastle West, winning a county championship medals with the latter two teams. Monagea GAA club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the parish of Monagea, County Limerick, Ireland. The club was founded in 1896 and fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. UCC is a football and hurling club associated with University College Cork.
