Williamson is an unincorporated community in St. Thomas Township in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, United States. Williamson is located along Pennsylvania Route 995, northwest of Greencastle and southwest of Chambersburg. Williamson was platted ''circa'' 1870 by land owner Samuel Z. Pennsylvania Route 995 (PA 995) is a north–south state route in south central Pennsylvania. The southern terminus of the route is at PA 75 in Claylick. The northern terminus is at U.S. Route 30 (US 30) west of Chambersburg. The road carries the names Welsh Run Road, Lemar Road, and Warm Spring Road. PA 995 is a two-lane undivided road that runs southwest-northeast through farmland in southwestern Franklin County. The route crosses PA 416 in Welsh Run and forms a concurrency with PA 16 in Upton. Hugh Williamson (December 5, 1735 – May 22, 1819) was an American Founding Fathers of the United States, Founding Father, physician, and politician. He is best known as a signatory to the U.S. Constitution, and for representing North Carolina at the Philadelphia Convention, Constitutional Convention. Greencastle, Pennsylvania
Greencastle is a borough in Franklin County in south-central Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,996 at the 2010 census. Greencastle lies within the Cumberland Valley of Pennsylvania. History James Patton, who came to America at age 17 and moved to North Carolina in 1793, started the settlement of Canogege (spelled "Conegoge" by George P. Donahoo). Patton said in an 1839 letter to his descendants that the place was "settled by a moral and orderly people." Greencastle was founded in 1783 by John Allison from the Barkdoll House.
