William White (bishop Of Honan)
William Charles White (22 August 1873 – 24 January 1960) was an Anglican missionary bishop to China and later an academic specializing in Chinese study. He was the first bishop of Henan ( then romanized as Honan). In addition to his missionary work he was a great collector of Chinese artifacts. A majority of his collection are the foundation for the Chinese collections at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, Canada. Early life William C. White was born in Devonshire, England, August 22, 1873. Little is known about his early childhood in England. William Deacon White
William Freeman "Deacon" White (December 6, 1878 – November 1, 1939) was an American educator and an athlete, coach, manager, owner and promoter of multiple sports, known as the "King of Sports" in Edmonton, Alberta, during the 1920s. His is remembered as founder of multiple sports teams and the first coach of the Edmonton Eskimos football team. A book-length biography of him called him "the founder of modern sports in Edmonton". Biography White was born in Sheridan, Illinois, on 6 December 1878 and graduated with a master's degree from Northwestern University. There is no record of him playing intercollegiate sports there, but he is believed to have played intramural sports, and excelled at track, basketball, rugby, and baseball. William White (Guyanese Cricketer)
William White (born 30 October 1953) is a Guyanese cricketer. He played in twelve first-class and eight List A matches for Guyana from 1976 to 1985. White began playing cricket in the late 1960s at the YMCA. He was scouted for the Demerara cricket team as well as Guyana's under-19 in 1971 and 72. He played for Sheldon Cricket Club (England) in 1983 and Pembroke Cricket Club in 1984. He earned 5 wicked and 30 runs in his final game for Guyana, earning him a 'man-of-the-match' award. Upon emigrating to the US in 1985, he joined the Atlantis Cricket Club in New York, where he earned an honorary lifetime membership in 2014 for his nearly 25 years of service. William Eugene White (February 19, 1966 – July 28, 2022) was an American professional football player who was a safety for eleven seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, and Atlanta Falcons from 1988 to 1998. Early life White was born in Lima, Ohio, on February 19, 1966. He attended Lima Senior High School in his hometown, playing on its football and basketball teams before graduating in 1984. He then studied at Ohio State University, where he played as defensive back for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He served as its co-captain during his senior year, when he was named to the All-Big Ten Conference team. He played on the 1984 and 1986 teams that won the Big Ten Conference championship. Brigadier William Nicholas White CB, DSO (10 September 1879 – 27 December 1951) was an English first-class cricketer. White was a right-handed batsman. Pre-World War I career White made his first-class debut for Hampshire against the Gentlemen of Philadelphia in 1903, where White made a duck in his only innings in the match. After this White moved to Barbados, where he made his debut for Barbados against British Guiana in January 1904. From 1904 to 1906, White played six first-class matches for Barbados, with his final match coming in the final of the 1906 Inter-Colonial Tournament against Trinidad, which Barbados won by 16 runs. White was a losing finalist in the same competition in 1904. In his six matches for the Island, White scored 241 runs at a batting average of 21.90, with one half century which gave White his highest score for Barbados of 51. William Henry "Whoop-La" White (October 11, 1854 – August 31, 1911) was an American baseball pitcher and manager from 1875 to 1889. He played all or parts of 10 seasons in Major League Baseball, primarily for the Cincinnati Reds in the National League (1878–1879) and the Cincinnati Red Stockings in the American Association (1882–1886). He had three 40-win, and one 40-loss, seasons in Cincinnati. During the 1882 and 1883 seasons, he led the American Association in wins, compiling an 83–34 win–loss record and a 1.84 earned run average (ERA). Over the course of 10 major league seasons, White compiled a 229–166 record with a 2.28 ERA. His career ERA ranks ninth on the all-time list of Major League Baseball career ERA leaders. White also set a number of major league pitching records and still holds several. William Edward White
William Edward White (October 1860 – March 29, 1937) was a 19th-century American baseball player. He played as a substitute in one professional baseball game for the Providence Grays of the National League, on June 21, 1879. Work by the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) suggests that he may have been the first African-American to play major league baseball, predating the longer careers of Moses Fleetwood Walker and his brother Weldy Walker by five years, and Jackie Robinson by 68 years. Very little is known about White, who replaced the regular first baseman, Joe Start, after the latter was injured. White was a student at Brown University and played for the college's team. William White (missionary)
William White (11 February 1794 – 25 November 1875) was an English-born missionary for the Wesleyan Church in early colonial New Zealand. Born in England, White came to New Zealand in 1823 to establish the first Wesleyan mission in the country, at Kaeo, near Whangaroa Harbour. He later took charge of Māngungu Mission in the Hokianga, having returned to England to find a wife in the interim. Further stations were established along the west coast of the North Island. A difficult personality, he soon alienated fellow missionaries over the running of the mission and was recalled to England in 1836. After an investigation, he was dismissed from the Wesleyan ministry two years later due to having been deemed to have conducted inappropriate commercial activity while in charge of the missions in New Zealand.
