William T. Innis
William Thompson Innis (June 27, 1826 – November 16, 1901) was an American farmer and politician. Born in Newburgh, New York, Innis moved to Wisconsin in 1849. He settled in the community of West Rosendale within the town of Rosendale, Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin where he was a farmer. He was president of a farmers' club and director of a farmers' insurance business. Innis was a Republican, and served as chairman of the Rosendale Town Board. He also served in the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1877. Eventually, he moved to Ripon, Wisconsin in 1891. In 1901, Innis died at his daughter's house in Pickett Pickett is an English surname. Newburgh is a city in the U.S. state of New York, within Orange County. With a population of 28,856 as of the 2020 census, it is a principal city of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown metropolitan area. Ripon is a city in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 7,733 at the 2010 census. The city is surrounded by the Town of Ripon. Ripon is home to the Little White Schoolhouse, the commonly recognized birthplace of the Republican Party. History Founding Ripon was founded in 1849 by David P. Mapes, a former New York steamboat captain. Within two years the city had absorbed the nearby commune of Ceresco, established in 1844 by the Wisconsin Phalanx, a group of settlers inspired by the communitarian socialist philosophy of Charles Fourier. The Wisconsin State Assembly is the lower house of the Wisconsin Legislature. Together with the smaller Wisconsin Senate, the two constitute the legislative branch of the U.S. state of Wisconsin.
