William Lee Self
William Lee Self (*2. July 1958 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina) is an American musician and composer, who emigrated to north Germany in 1982 and who has been living in Hamburg since 1995. Life Self was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina as William Lee Self Jr to the liberal Baptist minister and theologian Dr. Rev Bill Self and music teacher Carolyn Shealy Self. He was educated at the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the Galloway School in Atlanta, Georgia and at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. Career Before moving to Athens, Georgia in 1980 he worked as a “hired gun” guitarist and bassist in New Yorks burgeoning punk scene of the late 70's. In Athens, Self founded the rock band Tanzplagen together with Michael Stipe, David Pierce (musician), David Pierce and Neil McArthur. Pylon was an American new wave/post-punk band from Athens, Georgia. The band's danceable sound, a blend of new wave, post-punk, jangle pop, alternative rock and funk rock, influenced the Athens music scene and the 1980s American pop underground. Baylor School, commonly called Baylor, is a private, coeducational college-preparatory school in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The London Cowboys
The London Cowboys were a rock'n'roll band who performed from 1980 to 1987. Formed by Steve Dior (vocals) and Barry Jones, formerly of The Idols, the band was somewhat of an enigma. Although these two remained constant and wrote the material, they were joined by a constant succession of other artists in the revolving roster. These included Glen Matlock from the Sex Pistols, Terry Chimes from The Clash, Tony James from Generation X, Phil Lewis and Gerry Laffy from Girl, Jerry Nolan from the New York Dolls, Alan D'Alvarez (reportedly of Scotland yard's D10 section) and a dozen other less notable players. Glen Matlock
Glen Matlock (born 27 August 1956) is an English musician, best known for being the bass guitarist in the original line-up of the punk rock band the Sex Pistols. He is credited as a songwriter on 10 of the 12 songs on the Sex Pistols' only album, '' Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols'', although he had left the band early in the recording process, credited as bassist and backing vocalist on only two songs on the album, " Anarchy in the U.K." and "God Save The Queen". Since leaving the Sex Pistols in 1977, he has performed with several other bands, including Rich Kids, who scored a UK top 20 hit with the single "Rich Kids" in 1978, as well as presented his own work. Xmal Deutschland (pronounced: /ɪksmal ˈdɔʏtʃlant/), often written as X-Mal Deutschland, was a musical group from Hamburg, West Germany, which existed from 1980 to 1990.
