William John Finley Warren
William John Finley Warren (December 14, 1873 – 1963) was a farmer, rancher and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Thunder Creek in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan from 1921 to 1925 as a Progressive Party member. He was born in Balderson near Perth, Ontario, the son of Richard Warren and Margaret James, and was educated at the Saskatchewan Agricultural College. He settled in Balbeck, Saskatchewan in 1906. In 1911, Warren married Annie M. James. He was president of the Moose Jaw Agricultural Society, of the Saskatchewan Registered Seed Grower's Association and of the Saskatchewan Agricultural Societies' Association. Warren was defeated by Robert Scott Donaldson when he ran for reelection to the provincial assembly in 1925. Thunder Creek is a former provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. This district was created before the 3rd Saskatchewan general election in 1912. The constituency was dissolved and combined with the Arm River, Morse and Lumsden districts before the 9th Saskatchewan general election in 1938. This district was revived for the 18th Saskatchewan general election in 1975. Legislative Assembly Of Saskatchewan
The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. Progressive Party Of Saskatchewan
The Progressive Party of Saskatchewan was a provincial section of the Progressive Party of Canada and was active from the 1920s to the mid-1930s. The Progressives were an agrarian, social democratic political movement. It was originally dedicated to political and economic reform; it also challenged economic policies that favoured the financial and industrial interests in Central Canada over agrarian (and, to some extent, labour) interests. Like its federal counterpart it favoured free trade over protectionism. Perth is a town in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It is located on the Tay River, southwest of Ottawa, and is the seat of Lanark County. History The town was established as a military settlement in 1816, shortly after the War of 1812. The settlement of Lanark County began in 1815. In that year "the Settlement forming on the Rideau River" as it was officially referred to (and which soon became known as "Perth Military Settlement") began to function under Military direction.
