William Alexander Hewitt (August 9, 1914 – May 16, 1998) was the former chairman of Deere & Company of Moline, Illinois, and the last of the Deere Family to run the company.Broehl, Wayne G., Jr. ''John Deere's Company''. William Hewitt (minister)
William Currie Hewitt (born 1951) is a minister of the Church of Scotland and is a former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland (2009–2010). He was born on 6 April 1951 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland and educated at Kilmarnock Academy and the University of Glasgow. He graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Divinity from the University of Glasgow in 1974. He was minister at Westburn Parish Church in Greenock, Scotland until 2012 and was the first serving minister of a church in Greenock ever to become Moderator. William Henry Hewitt VC (19 June 1884 – 7 December 1966) was a South African soldier, and recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest military award for gallantry in the face of the enemy given to British and Commonwealth forces, during the First World War. Details He was 33 years old, and a lance-corporal in the 2nd South African Light Infantry, South African Forces during the First World War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. On 20 September 1917 east of Ypres, Belgium, Lance-Corporal Hewitt attacked a pill-box with his section and tried to rush the doorway. The garrison, however, proved very stubborn and in the attempt the lance-corporal received a severe wound. Nevertheless, he proceeded to the loophole of the pill-box where, in his attempts to put a bomb in it, he was again wounded in the arm. William Wells Hewitt ARCO (8 November 1898 - 10 October 1966) was an English organist and composer who spent much of his working life in Canada. Education He was born on 8 November 1898 in Scarborough, Yorkshire, the son of Thomas Robert Hewitt and Mary Elizabeth Cooke. He studied music under Dr. George Bennett at Lincoln Cathedral for 10 years, becoming his assistant organist. He served in the Royal Air Force in the First World War. On 11 April 1928 he married Katharine Kitty Markham in Stratford upon Avon. He was Chairman of the Toronto Centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists from 1940 to 1942.
