William Heinecke
William Ellwood Heinecke ( th, วิลเลียม เอ็ลล์วู๊ด ไฮเน็ค; born 1949) is an American-born Thai businessman. He is the founder and chairman of Minor International PCL. The company includes Minor Hotels, Minor Food, and Minor Lifestyle. Eary life Heinecke moved to Bangkok in 1963 at the age of 14 with his family, having previously lived in Japan, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. Heinecke's father spent 25 years in the United States military, serving in World War II and the Korean War. When he retired, he joined the foreign service. His mother was an Asia correspondent for ''Time'' magazine. Heinecke studied at the International School Bangkok, and persuaded the editor of the now-defunct Bangkok World to let him write a weekly column on go-carting. Swensen's Inc. is a Canadian-owned global chain of ice cream restaurants that started in San Francisco, California, United States. History The company started in 1948 by Earle Swensen, who learned to make ice cream while serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Thai Express is a chain of restaurants serving Thai cuisine. It opened its first restaurant at Holland Village in Singapore in May 2002. Since then, there have been other outlets in Malaysia, China and Vietnam. History The idea of a restaurant was conceived in 2000 by Grace Goh and Ivan Lee who were classmates at the National University of Singapore.
