William Felton (died 1367)
Sir Willian Felton (died 1367) and English knight and seneschal of Poitou. Took part in Battle of Halidon Hill, 1333 and fought at Crecy in 1346. He was appointed lord justice of all the king's lands in Scotland in 1348. He fought at battle of Poitiers in 1356. He was appointed seneschal of Poitou in 1360. He accompanied the Black Prince on the Spanish campaign in 1367 and was called ''Felleton Guilliam qui ot cœur de lyon'' by Chandos Herald. He was killed at the battle of Aríñez a skirmish fought by the vanguard of the Black Prince's army. Biography Felton was the son of Sir William Felton of Northumberland (died c. 1358), and his first wife. He owned the manors of Bodington, West Matsden, Edelyngham, and half of West Milburne, all in Northumberland. Felton held important commands during the Second War of Scottish Independence. William Felton was a London coachmaker from 36 Leather Lane in Holborn, and 254 Oxford Street near Grosvenor Square, and noted for his 1796 illustrated two-volum"''A Treatise on Carriages; comprehending Coaches, Chariots, Phaetons, Curricles, Gigs, Whiskies, &c Together with their Proper Harness in which the Fair Prices of Every Article are Accurately Stated.''"William Felton wrote in the book's introduction that he had no literary pretensions, but rather that his aim was to produce an authoritative guide to the construction, maintenance and repair of horse-drawn coaches. William Harrell Felton
William Harrell Felton (June 19, 1823 – September 24, 1909) was an American politician, army surgeon, and Methodist minister. Felton was elected to three terms of office to the United States House of Representatives as an Independent Democrat, where he served as a sharp critic of commercial and financial interests and the return to the gold standard. Felton's wife was Rebecca Latimer Felton, who later became the first woman to serve in the United States Senate, albeit for only one day. William Felton (composer)
William Felton (1715 – 6 December 1769) was an English composer. He gained an M.A. at St. John's College, Cambridge in 1745 and was a chaplain to the Princess Dowager of Wales. He composed three sets of six concertos, modelled on Handel's and composed the glee, "Fill, fill, fill the glass". Biography William Felton was born in Market Drayton, Shropshire. He was educated in Manchester and at St. John's, Cambridge, where he graduated B.A. in 1738 and M.A. in 1745. He was vicar-choral in the choir of Hereford in 1741, custos of the vicars-choral in 1769, and chaplain to the Princess Dowager of Wales (Augusta of Saxe-Gotha). Billy Felton
William Felton (1 August 1900 – 22 April 1977) was an English professional footballer who played as a full back for a number of football league clubs, including Sheffield Wednesday, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the 1920s and 1930s, before a long spell with Altrincham. He earned a solitary cap for England in 1925. Career Early career Felton was born in Heworth, Tyne and Wear into a mining family. William Bowman Felton
William Bowman Felton (1782 – June 30, 1837) was a British naval officer, political figure in Lower Canada, and in his time the most influential man at Sherbrooke, Quebec. He was born in Gloucester, England in 1782. He was the son of John Felton (1752-1796), an officer in the Royal Navy and Governor of the Balearic Islands, by his wife Elizabeth (1765-1833), daughter of John Butt. He was descended from the mentally disturbed Naval officer John Felton, who murdered George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham in 1628. The Feltons had a long association with the Royal Navy, and William too served with the British fleet in the Mediterranean and at Gibraltar during the Napoleonic Wars. In 1811, he married Anna Maria Valls at Menorca and in 1814 he was appointed British Consul at Livorno. He amassed a considerable fortune as naval storekeeper at Port Mahon, Menorca. William Locker Pickmore Felton
William Locker Pickmore Felton, (April 6, 1812 – November 12, 1877) was a lawyer and political figure in Canada East. He was born at Mahón, Menorca in 1812, the son of William Bowman Felton, and came to Lower Canada with his family in 1815. They settled near Sherbrooke. Felton studied law at Quebec City with Andrew Stuart and Henry Black, was called to the bar in 1834 and set up practice at Quebec. In 1835, he married Clara, the daughter of Thomas Lloyd, a surgeon in the British army. Felton served as crown attorney for Saint-François district from 1853 to 1861 and was bâtonnier for the district from 1861 to 1875. In 1854, he was named Queen's Counsel.
