William Daniel Mayer
William Daniel Mayer (born October 30, 1941), was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates for District 28, which covers Charles County, MD. Background Delegate Mayer was appointed to District 28 in 2005 by former Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich to replace W. Louis Hennessy, who was appointed to District Court of Maryland, District 4, Charles County. Hennessy was appointed to the position in 2003 to replace Thomas E. Hutchins, who was appointed to Secretary of Veteran Affairs. Education Delegate Mayer attended La Plata High School. After high school he graduated from Charles Community College, where he received his Associates of Arts Degree in 1962. March of Dimes is a United States nonprofit organization that works to improve the health of mothers and babies. The organization was founded by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1938, as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, to combat polio. The name "March of Dimes" was coined by Eddie Cantor. Murray D. Levy is an American politician who represented district 28 in the Maryland House of Delegates for over six years, starting in October 2004. He did not run for reelection in 2010, the year he turned 65 years of age, and left office in January 2011. He hold a BS in accounting from George Washington University. Background Levy received a bachelor's degree (BS) in accounting from George Washington University, and served in the US Army from 1967 to 1969. He was employed for many years by Charles County, Maryland, serving as director of finance from 1971 to 1976, and then as director of public works from 1976 to 1980. Meals on Wheels is a programme that delivers meals to individuals at home who are unable to purchase or prepare their own meals. The name is often used generically to refer to home-delivered meals programmes, not all of which are actually named "Meals on Wheels". Many of the housebound recipients are the elderly, and many of the volunteers are also elderly but able-bodied and able to drive automobiles. Research shows that home-delivered meal programmes significantly improve diet quality, reduce food insecurity and improve quality-of-life among the recipients. Peter Murphy (born July 15, 1949) is an American politician and member of the Democratic Party who previously represented district 28 in the Maryland House of Delegates. In 2014, he was elected President of the Charles County Board of Commissioners. Background Murphy was born in Washington, D.C., on July 15, 1949. He has both a B.A. and an M.A. from the American University, and an Ed.S. Degree in Counseling from George Washington University. He began his non-political career as a microbiologist for the National Institutes of Health. There he developed a strong interest in teaching and education and went on to teach science and math at General Smallwood Middle School in Indian Head, Maryland.
