Willem Baptist (1979) is a Dutch filmmaker and documentary-director. His documentary '' I’m Never Afraid!'' (2010) won a Golden Gate Award at San Francisco International Film Festival, Documentary Short Grand Jury Prize at Atlanta Film Festival, and a Kinderkast Jury award non-fiction at Cinekid Festival. His documentary ''Wild Boar'' (2013) had its international premieres in competition at respectively Visions du Réel (Switzerland), Hot Docs International Documentary Festival (Canada) and AFI Docs (USA). In 2016 ''Imposible Magazine'' reported Baptist was shooting a feature documentary titled ''Instant Dreams'' in Berlin and California. ''I'm Never Afraid!'' (Dutch: ''Ik ben echt niet bang!'') is a 2010 Dutch Super 16mm documentary film about Mack Bouwense an eight-year-old professional motorcross racer who has a mirrored heart, a condition known as dextrocardia. It is directed by award-winning Dutch filmmaker Willem Baptist and broadcast by VPRO on 20 November 2010. In German and French speaking countries the documentary was broadcast by ARTE. It premiered at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, and screened at more than 100 film festivals worldwide including BFI London Film Festival, Slamdance, Sprockets; Toronto Film Festival, and Kraków Film Festival. The Cinekid Festival is the largest international film, television and new media festival for children aged 4 to 14 held at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It started as a small children's film festival and has now grown into a large organisation that develops activities for children in the areas of film, television and new media throughout the year. ''Wild Boar'' ( Dutch: Wild Zwijn) is a 2013 Dutch documentary directed by Willem Baptist. The film is a poetic and strongly stylized tale about the ambivalent relationship between humans and wild boars. Visions du Réel (Visions of Reality) is an internationally renowned documentary film festival held in April each year in Nyon, Switzerland. Established in 1969 as the Nyon International Documentary Film Festival, the event adopted its current name in 1995 and is the largest Swiss documentary festival. International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam
The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) is the world's largest documentary film festival held annually since 1988 in Amsterdam. Over a period of twelve days, it has screened more than 300 films and sold more than 250,000 tickets. Visitors to the festival have increased from 65,000 in 2000 to 285,000 in 2018.
