Will Satch
William Spencer Satch (born 9 June 1989) is a British Rowing (sport), rower and Olympic gold medallist. Rowing career Satch was educated at Shiplake College near Henley-on-Thames in southeast Oxfordshire. His rowing coach was New Zealand gold medallist Shane O'Brien (rower), Shane O'Brien, who was deputy headmaster at Shiplake College. Satch rows for Leander Club in Henley-on-Thames, and was appointed a vice-captain of the club in 2018. Satch won the bronze medal, rowing with George Nash (rower), George Nash in the Rowing at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's coxless pair, coxless pair at the 2012 Summer Olympics. In September 2013 Satch stroked the GB men's eight to the gold medal at the World Rowing Championships in Chungju, Korea and repeated the gold at the World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam in 2014. Order Of The British Empire
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service. It was established on 4 June 1917 by King George V and comprises five classes across both civil and military divisions, the most senior two of which make the recipient either a knight if male or dame if female. There is also the related British Empire Medal, whose recipients are affiliated with, but not members of, the order. Chungju
Chungju (충주시) is a city in North Chungcheong province, South Korea. Uamsan is a mountain located within the outskirts of the city. LOCOG
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) was the organisation responsible for overseeing the planning and development of the 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. George Nash (rower)
George Christopher Nash (born 2 October 1989) is a British rower. He is dual Olympian, dual Olympic medal winner and three time world champion. Education Nash attended Lanesborough School in Guildford and Winchester College, where he was Vice-Captain of the Boat Club. He then studied Engineering at St. Catharine's College, Cambridge, where he was a member of the Cambridge University Boat Club. Nash initially rowed in the Cambridge reserve boat, Goldie, in 2009. He rowed in Cambridge's Blue Boat in the 2010 and 2011 Boat Races, winning in 2010 and losing in 2011. He took the 2011–2012 year off from Cambridge in order to focus on the 2012 Summer Olympics. Upon his return to Cambridge for the 2012–2013 year, Nash was elected as President of the Cambridge University Boat Club. He sat in the 5-seat of the losing crew of the 2013 race. Leander Club
Leander Club, founded in 1818, is one of the oldest rowing clubs in the world, and the oldest non-academic club. It is based in Remenham in Berkshire, England and adjoins Henley-on-Thames. Only three other surviving clubs were founded prior to Leander: Brasenose College Boat Club and Jesus College Boat Club (the two competing in a Head race in 1815) and Westminster School Boat Club, founded in 1813. History Leander was founded on the Tideway in 1818 or 1819 by members of the old "Star" and "Arrow" Clubs and membership was at first limited to sixteen. The ''Henley Standard'' is a weekly newspaper based in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England. It is published by Higgs Group and is one of only a few independently-owned local newspapers in the UK. Shane O'Brien (rower)
Shane Joseph O'Brien (born 27 September 1960) is a former New Zealand rower who won an Olympic gold medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, USA. Early life O'Brien was born in 1960 in Auckland, New Zealand. He received his secondary school education at Mount Albert Grammar School from 1974 to 1978, where he was prefect and captain of the rowing team. Rowing career Along with Les O'Connell, Conrad Robertson and Keith Trask he won gold in the coxless four at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. O'Brien also competed at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, Scotland, winning a silver medal in the coxless four and a bronze medal in the eights. At the 1985 World Rowing Championships at Hazewinkel in Belgium, he came fourth with the coxless four. He is listed as New Zealand Olympian number 482. British Rowing, formerly the Amateur Rowing Association (ARA), is the national governing body for the sport of rowing (both indoor and on-water rowing).
