Public School (UK)
In England and Wales (but not Scotland), a public school is a fee-charging endowed school originally for older boys. They are "public" in the sense of being open to pupils irrespective of locality, denomination or paternal trade or profession. In Scotland, a public school is synonymous with a state school in England and Wales, and fee-charging schools are referred to as private schools. Jonathan Philip "Jonty" Hearnden (born 1960 in Brentwood, Essex) is an English antiques expert and television presenter. Though born in London Road, Brentwood (his parents owned a toy shop and a gentlemen's outfitters in Shenfield until shortly after his birth), he was brought up in Dorchester-on-Thames in Oxfordshire. Education Hearnden was educated at Shiplake College, an independent school in Shiplake, near Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire. Hearnden was diagnosed with dyslexia at an early age. The Fiji National Rugby Sevens Team has competed in the World Rugby Sevens Series, Rugby World Cup Sevens and the Olympics. Chris Cracknell
Chris Cracknell (born 6 August 1984 in Windsor, England) is a former England rugby union player. He coached the Fijiana team after being brought in by Ben Ryan in 2014. Cracknell attended Ridgeway (Junior School to Claires Court), Crosfields School and Shiplake College. The latter now hosts a 7s tournament in which schools compete for the 'Cracknell Cup' named in honour of the alumnus. A flanker, Cracknell has previously played for the Cornish Pirates, Exeter Chiefs, Bath and Worcester Warriors. In May 2010 Cracknell became subject of a WRFC and RFU investigation, when he became involved in an altercation with fellow Worcester player James Collins's father following the team's relegation decider match with Leeds. Thomas James Chilton (born 15 March 1985) is a British racing driver. He has spent most of his career competing in touring car racing; he was a former factory Vauxhall and Honda driver in the British Touring Car Championship, and currently drives for Ciceley Motorsport in the British Touring Car Championship. Tyrone Howe
Tyrone Gyle Howe (born 2 April 1971, Newtownards, Northern Ireland) formerly played in rugby union on the wing for University of St Andrews RFC, Ulster, Ireland and the British & Irish Lions. Howe was brought up in Dromore and attended Banbridge Academy. He played for Oxford University in The Varsity Match against Cambridge in 1994 and 1995, captaining the team in 1995. An injury resulted in a three-year absence from rugby, until he rejoined Ulster for the 1999-2000 season. On 10 June 2000, he made his senior international debut for Ireland against the United States. It was Ireland's largest win, the final score finishing 83–3. Nicholas Vaughan Bevan (21 February 1942 – 12 January 2014) was a leading British rowing coach and school headmaster. Early life Nick Bevan was born at the Limes Nursing Home in Shrewsbury, England, the son of David and Hilary Bevan. He was educated at Shrewsbury School where his father taught for 42 years and was a housemaster. Bevan then studied geography at Balliol College, Oxford. He rowed for Oxford University in the 1963 Boat Race, coming from behind to beat Cambridge University. While at Oxford, he taught the future King of Norway, Harald V, to row.
