William Edwards (architect)
William Edwards (February 1719 – 7 August 1789) was a Welsh Methodist minister of religion, minister who also practised as a stonemason, architect and bridge engineer. Edwards was born the son of Edward David in Eglwysilan, Caerphilly County Borough in a small farmhouse, and began preaching in his early twenties. In 1745, he became joint pastor of a newly established Union of Welsh Independents, Independent chapel at Groeswen, remaining in the post until his death.''The Welsh Academy Encyclopaedia of Wales''. William Jackson Edwards (September 20, 1928 – September 27, 2019) was an Alabama lawyer and politician who represented the 1st Congressional district in the United States House of Representatives from 1965 to 1985. A Republican, Edwards first won election to Congress in 1964, one of five Republicans elected to the House from Alabama amid Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater's sweep of the state in that year's presidential election. During Ronald Reagan's presidency, Edwards became the vice chairman of the Republican leadership and was a member of the United States House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense. Willie Edwards Jr. (November 13, 1932 – January 23, 1957) was a 24-year-old African American, husband and father, who was murdered by members of the Alabama Ku Klux Klan. He is buried at New Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Letohatchee, Alabama. Murder On the night of January 22, 1957, a small group of Klansmen gathered, armed with pistols and a rifle. They got into a car to look for Willie Edwards, an African American, who had recently been hired as a driver for Winn-Dixie. They thought that he was sleeping with a white woman. Willie had come home from work and an hour later got a call from his boss asking to come back in because one of the other workers had called in sick. William Edwards (22 January 1851 – 12 February 1940) was a Welsh school inspector for nearly 50 years and a writer on educational topics. Life Edwards was born in Denbigh, North Wales, and after being educated in Denbigh and at the Liverpool Institute, studied at The Queen's College, Oxford. He matriculated in 1869, and obtained first-class degrees in Classics and in Mathematics ( B.A. 1873, M.A. 1876). He was appointed a Fellow of Jesus College, Oxford in 1874, holding this position until 1877. In 1877, Edwards was appointed as one of Her Majesty's inspectors of schools and thereafter spent thirty-eight years inspecting schools in Glamorgan, South Wales. In 1884, he was an unsuccessful candidate for the post of first principal of the new University College of North Wales, Bangor, the position going to Harry Reichel. William Cameron Edwards (7 May 1844 – 17 September 1921) was a Canadian businessman and parliamentarian. He was born in Clarence Township in Russell County, Ontario, the son of William Edwards and Ann Cameron, received basic schooling in Ottawa at the District Grammar School Lisgar Alumni Association. A History of the Ottawa Collegiate Institute, 1843–1903. 1904. and, at a young age, began work in the timber industry at Thurso, Quebec. He founded W.C. Edwards & Company which built large sawmills at Rockland and New Edinburgh. He was an industrial pioneer in the coalfields of West Virginia, opening some of the earliest mines in the southern part of the state. William George Edwards is an English rugby union and rugby sevens player who has represented Loughborough Students, Saracens, Northampton Saints, Harlequins Rugby Club and England. He made his breakthrough in 2017, when he was called up to the World Series squad for the Vancouver tournament, which England went on to win.
