Wilhelm Krause (painter)
Wilhelm August Leopold Christian Krause (27 February 1803, Dessau - 8 January 1864, Berlin) was a German landscape and marine painter. Biography He received his initial lessons in art from Carl Wilhelm Kolbe the Elder, Carl Wilhelm Kolbe, who was sufficiently impressed by his talent that he helped him obtain a Ducal Scholarship; enabling him to study at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts, beginning in 1821. He remained there for three years, while attempting to become a private student of Caspar David Friedrich. Those efforts were in vain so, in 1824, he relocated to Berlin, where he found employment with the stage designer and diorama painter, Karl Wilhelm Gropius. Later, he became a student of Karl Wilhelm Wach. During this time, he supported himself by singing at the Königsstädtisches Theater. Gerd-Helge Vogel (born 18 April 1951) is a German art historian. Life Vogel was born in Zwickau (Saxony) and grew up as the son of the dentist Helmut Vogel and his wife ''Lisa'', ''née'' Leupold, in Hartenstein in the Erzgebirge. From 1966 to 1970 he visited the Extended Secondary School (EOS) in Aue in Saxony, where he simultaneously completed vocational training as a lathe operator in the ''Blema'' company. The Royal Prussian Academy of Sciences (german: Königlich-Preußische Akademie der Wissenschaften) was an academy established in Berlin, Germany on 11 July 1700, four years after the Prussian Academy of Arts, or "Arts Academy," to which "Berlin Academy" may also refer. In the 18th century, it was a French-language institution since French was the language of science and culture during that era. Fritz Bamberger (painter)
Fritz Bamberger (October 17, 1814 – August 13, 1873) was a German painter, primarily of landscapes. Biography Bamberger was born in Würzburg, the fourth son of two Bavarian musicians. His parents retired in 1820, and he moved with them to Frankfurt, where his sister Sabine became an opera singer. He spent part of his childhood in Dresden and Berlin, beginning to learn drawing and painting. He moved back to Würzburg in 1828, and then studied painting under Johann Georg Primavesi in Kassel from 1831. He also studied at the Prussian Academy of Arts and in Munich under Carl Rottmann. He moved back to Frankfurt in 1835, and began painting various landscapes; he took a trip to France and England in 1836 to gain additional material for his paintings. Eduard Hildebrandt
Eduard Hildebrandt (9 September 1818 in Danzig25 October 1868 in Berlin) was a German landscape painter. Biography He served as apprentice to his father, a house-painter at Danzig. He was not twenty when he moved to Berlin, where he was taken in hand by Wilhelm Krause, a painter of sea pieces. Several early pieces exhibited after his death—a breakwater, dated 1838, ships in a breeze off Swinemünde (1840), and other canvases of this and the following year—show Hildebrandt to have been a careful student of nature, with inborn talents kept down by the conventionalisms of the formal school to which Krause belonged. Accident made him acquainted with masterpieces of French art displayed at the Berlin Academy, and these awakened his curiosity and envy. Hermann Wilhelm Benjamin Eschke (6 May 1823 - 15 January 1900) was a German painter who specialized in marine art. Biography Eschke was born in Berlin.
