Wilhelm Gmelin
Wilhelm Gmelin (14 April 1891 – 9 December 1978) was a German football goalkeeper. He played club football with Eintracht Frankfurt and its predecessor clubs. Career Goalkeeper Gmelin started his first team career in 1907 at Frankfurter FC Victoria 1899. Four years later Victoria merged with fellow Frankfurt club Frankfurter Kickers to form Frankfurter FV (Kickers-Victoria). Another nine years later another club merger formed Eintracht Frankfurt. In 1911–12 Gmelin's team only lost 2 of 23 matches, securing the Nordkreis championship and the qualification for the South German championship. In encounters with SpVgg Fürth, Karlsruher FV and Phönix Mannheim Frankfurter FC Victoria 1899 could only achieve two draws. In 1912–13 Victoria won the Nordkreis title once more and participated in another South German championship round where the Frankfurt club closely missed out the first spot that would have allowed playing the 1913 German championship. 1913 German Football Championship
The 1913 German football championship, the 11th edition of the competition, was won by VfB Leipzig, defeating Duisburger SV 3–1 in the final. VfB Leipzig won its third national championship, having previously taken out the title in 1903 and 1906 as well as making a losing appearance in the 1911 final. Leipzig became the first club to win three German championships and would make another appearance in the final in 1914, the last in the club's history. For Duisburger SV it was the sole appearance in the championship final. Leipzig's Paul Pömpner was the top scorer of the 1913 championship, with five goals. Nominally eight clubs qualified for the competition played in knock-out format, the champions of each of the seven regional football championships as well as the defending German champions. Kreisliga Nordmain
The Kreisliga Nordmain (English: ''District league North Main'') was the highest association football league in parts of the German state of Hesse and the Prussian province of Hesse-Nassau from 1919 to 1923. The league was disbanded with the introduction of the Bezirksliga Main in 1923. The league is named after the river Main, which flows through Frankfurt am Main and reaches the Rhine near Mainz. The league was formed from clubs from the northern side of the river. With a club from Aschaffenburg, it also included a team from the Bavaria. World War I
World War I (28 July 1914 11 November 1918), often abbreviated as WWI, was one of the deadliest global conflicts in history. West Germany is the colloquial term used to indicate the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG; german: Bundesrepublik Deutschland , BRD) between its formation on 23 May 1949 and the German reunification through the accession of East Germany on 3 October 1990. Karlsruher FV
Karlsruher FV is a German association football club that plays in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg. Established on 17 November 1891, KFV was a founding member of the German Football Association (Deutscher Fussball-Bund) in 1900 and is the oldest still existing football club in Southern Germany. The club was one of the leading German football clubs before the First World War. The team went on to capture the national championship in 1910 with a 1–0 victory over Holstein Kiel, but lost the final in 1905 and 1912. The KFV claimed the Southern German football championship from 1901 to 1905 and from 1910 to 1912.
