Wilhelm Christian Keilhau (officer)
Wilhelm Christian Ottesen Keilhau (30 July 1888 – 9 June 1954) was a Norwegian historian and economist. Personal life Keilhau was born in Kristiania on 30 July 1888, to Harald Keilhau and Louise Ottesen. He was married twice, first to Rachel Greiner in 1915, and second time to Rita Wilhelma Steensrud. Career He was appointed professor at the University of Oslo from 1934. Among his works are his thesis ' from 1917 and ' from 1923. In addition to his academic career, Keilhau also engaged in other activities. He published two novels and a poetry collection. He was CEO of Norway's first airline company, Det norske Luftfartsrederi, in 1918. During World War II he was a member of the board of directors of the London department of Norges Bank Norges Bank / Noregs Bank is the central bank of Norway. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Oslo was founded as a city at the end of the Viking Age in 1040 under the name Ánslo, and established as a ''kaupstad'' or trading place in 1048 by Harald Hardrada. The city was elevated to a bishopric in 1070 and a capital under Haakon V of Norway around 1300. Personal unions with Denmark from 1397 to 1523 and again from 1536 to 1814 reduced its influence. An academy (Attic Greek: Ἀκαδήμεια; Koine Greek Ἀκαδημία) is an institution of secondary or tertiary higher learning (and generally also research or honorary membership). The name traces back to Plato's school of philosophy, founded approximately 385 BC at Akademia, a sanctuary of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and skill, north of Athens, Greece. Louise Keilhau
Louise Keilhau (1860–1927) was a Norway, Norwegian teacher and peace activist. She founded the ''Norwegian Committee for Permanent Peace'' and she was a founding member of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF). Life Keilhau realised that war was coming in the early part of the twentieth century and she traveled internationally to make ready. She was a leading member of the Norwegian Red Cross. Keilhau was credited with inspiring the Norwegian International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, Red Cross to take an active role to relieve suffering during the World War I, First World War. She was the only woman on the Red Cross's executive board and, with the support of other women, encouraged the Norwegian Red Cross to look up from its domestic problems.
