''Wildlife'' is an EP produced by British heavy metal band, Girlschool Girlschool are a British rock band that formed in the new wave of British heavy metal scene in 1978. Frequently associated with contemporaries Motörhead, they are the longest-running all-female rock band, still active after more than 40 yea ... and published only in Europe. It was released in 1982 by Bronze Records as a launch for the album '' Screaming Blue Murder''. During the recording sessions for the album, bassist and singer Enid Williams left the band and this EP is the last production made by the original formation. The songs "Don't Call It Love" and "Wildlife" were recorded again for the album with new bass player Ghislaine 'Gil' Weston and new vocal tracks. The EP was also available in a red vinyl edition. Girlschool
Girlschool are a British rock band that formed in the new wave of British heavy metal scene in 1978. Frequently associated with contemporaries Motörhead, they are the longest-running all-female rock band, still active after more than 40 years. Formed from a school band called Painted Lady, Girlschool enjoyed strong media exposure and commercial success in the UK in the early 1980s with three albums of 'punk-tinged metal' and a few singles, but lost their momentum in the following years. In the 1990s and 2000s, Girlschool focused on shows and tours and made few studio albums. During their career they travelled the world, playing in many rock and metal festivals and co-headlining with or supporting important hard rock and heavy metal bands. They maintain a worldwide cult following, and are an inspiration for many female rock musicians. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. Bronze Records
Bronze Records was an independent English record label founded in 1971 by record producer Gerry Bron on Oxford Street in London, eventually relocating to Chalk Farm. History Bron had been producing Uriah Heep for Vertigo Records, and he set up the new label for future Uriah Heep releases, along with Juicy Lucy, Richard Barnes, Eastern Alliance and Colosseum. Other subsequent acts included Gene Pitney, Osibisa, Paladin, Goldie, Manfred Mann's Earth Band (another Vertigo refugee), the Real Kids, Roxy Music's Andy Mackay, Sally Oldfield, Motörhead, Angel Witch, the Damned, GirlschoolBronzand Hawkwind. Original manufacturing and distribution was through Island Records, moving to EMI in 1977 and then to Polydor Records in 1980. The label folded in financial difficulty in 1986, with the catalogue being sold to Ray Richards' Legacy Records. Nigel Gray
Nigel Gray (1947 – 30 July 2016) was an English record producer. His album credits include ''Outlandos d'Amour'' (1978), ''Reggatta de Blanc'' (1979), and ''Zenyatta Mondatta'' (1980) for the Police, ''Kaleidoscope'' (1980) and '' Juju'' (1981) for Siouxsie and the Banshees, as well as five albums for Godley & Creme. Gray was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album for ''Zenyatta Mondatta'' (1981) and also won two Grammys for producer of Best Rock Performance ("Don't Stand So Close to Me") and Best Rock Instrumental (" Behind My Camel"). Gray was revered by Radiohead's producer Nigel Godrich for his work on the Police's ''Reggatta de Blanc''. ''Screaming Blue Murder'' is the third studio album by British heavy metal band, Girlschool. It was released on Bronze Records in 1982, and featured one line-up change in bassist Ghislaine 'Gil' Weston, formerly of The Killjoys, replacing the recently departed founding member Enid Williams. Nigel Gray, who had previously worked with The Police, produced the album. The original vinyl issue had the lyrics printed on the inner sleeve, although in the UK initial copies were accidentally shipped with a plain, generic liner. Kelly Johnson (guitarist)
Bernadette Jean "Kelly" Johnson (20 June 1958 – 15 July 2007) was an English guitarist and singer, widely known in the UK in the early 1980s as the lead guitarist of the all-female rock band Girlschool. Biography Johnson started playing piano after her father when she was five years old, switching to guitar at age twelve. She attended Edmonton County School in Edmonton, London, where she discovered rock music and played bass and piano in school bands. She went back to guitar and was already writing and playing her own material when she met her future bandmates at the age of 19. After her first encounter with Kim McAuliffe and Enid Williams in April 1978, she was immediately accepted in the ranks of the new band formed from the ashes of the group Painted Lady, which took the name of Girlschool.
