Kelly Johnson (guitarist)
Bernadette Jean "Kelly" Johnson (20 June 1958 – 15 July 2007) was an English guitarist and singer, widely known in the UK in the early 1980s as the lead guitarist of the all-female rock band Girlschool. Biography Johnson started playing piano after her father when she was five years old, switching to guitar at age twelve. She attended Edmonton County School in Edmonton, London, where she discovered rock music and played bass and piano in school bands. She went back to guitar and was already writing and playing her own material when she met her future bandmates at the age of 19. After her first encounter with Kim McAuliffe and Enid Williams in April 1978, she was immediately accepted in the ranks of the new band formed from the ashes of the group Painted Lady, which took the name of Girlschool. Edmonton is a town in north London, England within the London Borough of Enfield, a local government district of Greater London. Geoffrey Arnold Beck (born 24 June 1944) is an English rock guitarist. He rose to prominence with the Yardbirds and after fronted the Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogert & Appice. In 1975, he switched to a mainly instrumental style, with a focus on innovative sound, and his releases have spanned genres ranging from blues rock, hard rock, jazz fusion and a blend of guitar-rock and electronica. The Runaways
The Runaways were an all-female American rock band who recorded and performed from 1975 to 1979. The band released four studio albums and one live album during its run. Vicki Blue
Victory Tischler-Blue (born September 16, 1959) is an American film producer, director, writer, musician and photographer. She was born and raised in Newport Beach, California. Tischler-Blue began working in the entertainment industry at age 17, using the name Vicki Blue as the bassist in the American all-girl teenage rock band The Runaways. After the demise of the band, she was cast as Cindy by director Rob Reiner in ''This Is Spinal Tap''. Her film ''Edgeplay'' was based on her tenure in The Runaways. ''Play Dirty'' is the fourth studio album by British heavy metal music, heavy metal band, Girlschool, released on Bronze Records in 1983 and produced by Noddy Holder and Jim Lea (musician), Jim Lea from the hard rock band Slade. It was the first Girlschool album not to enter the UK Top 40 album chart and signalled a general downturn in their career, along with an inclination towards a softer rock sound. Kelly Johnson (guitarist), Kelly Johnson left the band soon after the release and an intended full US-tour never materialised. ''Hit and Run'' is the second studio album by the English heavy metal band Girlschool, released in 1981 by Bronze Records. Overview The album represented Girlschool's sophomore effort, and like its predecessor ''Demolition'' (1980) it was recorded at Jackson's Studios, England. The band were in the studio from December 1980 to January 1981 with Vic Maile again serving as producer. ''Hit and Run'' is the most successful Girlschool album, having reached No. 5 in the UK Albums Chart, with the single of the title track climbing to No. 32 in the UK Singles Chart. The band appeared on the BBC show ''Top of the Pops'' on April 16, 1981, miming to the hit song.
