Wildcat Creek is a U.S. Geological Survey. The creek empties into the Siuslaw River at Austa on Oregon Route 126. In the 19th century, the stream was named ''Walton Creek'' after Joshua J. Walton, a lawyer, Lane County judge, and member of the University of Oregon's board of regents. In the 20th century, the name was changed to ''Wildcat Creek''. Course From its source, the creek flows west, then north to near Penn Road, where it receives Warden Creek from the right. Turning west again, the creek receives Salt Creek from the right and Bulmer Creek from the left before reaching the unincorporated community of Penn. Wildcat Creek Bridge
Wildcat Creek Bridge is a covered bridge built in 1925 at Austa, near Walton, in the U.S. state of Oregon. It uses Howe truss engineering and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The bridge carries Austa Road over Wildcat Creek near its confluence with the Siuslaw River. The bridge is among those for which Lane County minted commemorative coins between 2005 and July 2012 for sale to the public to raise funds to maintain and repair covered bridges.Lane County has 17 covered bridges, 14 of which are active. Through 2012, the county issued 325 Wildcat Creek Bridge coins. Walton, Oregon
Walton is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States. It is located halfway between Eugene and Florence on Oregon Route 126. Construction of Route 126 began in 1881, and after it crossed the Oregon Coast Range near Noti, it followed a tributary of the Siuslaw River named Walton Creek. Walton post office was established in 1884 to serve the settlers along the new route and postmaster James L. Atkinson named it for the stream. The stream was in turn named for Joshua J. River Mile
A river mile is a measure of distance in miles along a river from its mouth. River mile numbers begin at zero and increase further upstream.
