Wild Beasts
Wild Beasts were an English indie rock band, formed in 2002 in Kendal. They released their first single, "Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants", on Bad Sneakers Records in November 2006, and subsequently signed to Domino Records. They have released five acclaimed albums, ''Limbo, Panto'' in 2008, ''Two Dancers'' in 2009, ''Smother'' in 2011, ''Present Tense'' in 2014 and '' Boy King'' in 2016. ''Two Dancers'' was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Kendal
Kendal, once Kirkby in Kendal or Kirkby Kendal, is a market town and civil parish in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, England, south-east of Windermere and north of Lancaster. Historically in Westmorland, it lies within the dale of the River Kent, from which its name is derived. At the 2011 Census, the town had a population of 28,586, making it the third largest town in Cumbria after Carlisle and Barrow-in-Furness. It is renowned today mainly as a centre for shopping, for its festivals and historic sights, including Kendal Castle, and as the home of Kendal Mint Cake. The town's grey limestone buildings have earned it the sobriquet "Auld Grey Town". UK Albums Chart
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. Diviner (album)
''Diviner'' is the debut studio album by English musician Hayden Thorpe. It was released on 24 May 2019 by Domino Recording Company. ''Diviner'' is the first solo work from Thorpe since the dissolution of Wild Beasts, a band which Thorpe was a member of for over fifteen years. The album was written by Hayden Thorpe in Los Angeles, London, Kendal, and Cornwall. It was recorded over the course of 2018 with producer and close friend Leo Abrahams at Thorpe's London flat and at Abrahams' studio in Cornwall. The album's musical style is more stripped down compared to Thorpe's previous work. It was preceded by the singles "Diviner", "Love Crimes", and "Earthly Needs". Background and recording Hayden Thorpe and the three other members of Wild Beasts met in a pub during their 2016 Christmas break and mutually decided to disband. Schreiber started Pitchfork while working at a record store in suburban Minneapolis, and the website earned a reputation for its extensive coverage of indie rock music. It has since expanded and covers all kinds of music, including pop. Pitchfork was sold to Condé Nast in 2015, although Schreiber remained its editor-in-chief until he left the website in 2019. Production The album was recorded live over a two-day period at RAK Studios. Critical reception ''Last Night All My Dreams Came True'' was met with "generally favorable" reviews from critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, this release received an average score of 73, based on 12 reviews. Aggregator Album of the Year gave the release a 72 out of 100 based on a critical consensus of 9 reviews. Sky Larkin
Sky Larkin is an English indie rock band from Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, who formed in 2005. Early history In common with many bands from Leeds, Sky Larkin released two singles on the Leeds-based label Dance To The Radio. Songs of theirs appeared on Dance To The Radio compilation albums 'Something I Learned Today' and 'Out Of The Woods And Trees', the former featuring 'Summit' and the latter featuring the Napoleon IIIrd remix of 'Keepsakes' In both 2006 and 2007 they appeared on the unsigned stage at the Leeds Festival. During this time they would play around the UK on bills with the likes of Los Campesinos!, Nosferatu D2, Johnny Foreigner, Wild Beasts and others.
