Wil Jacobs
Wil Jacobs (born 7 June 1960) is a Dutch retired handball player. Career Jacobs started playing handball at the age of 14 at Vlug en Lenig. As a youth international, he participated in the Junior World Championships in 1979 (Denmark) and 1981 (Portugal). Jacobs made his debut in the national team on 28 March 1980 in Aarau against Switzerland (26-14 loss). The B-World Cup in France in 1981 was his first major tournament, finishing in tenth place. After that, four more World Cups followed for him. In 1988, during the first edition of the ''Limburgse Handbal Dagen'', he became top scorer on behalf of Vlug en Lenig. In 1985 Jacobs moved to Belgian side Neerpelt and stayed there for three years. In 1988 he returned to Vlug en Lenig for a season. In the 1989/1990 season Jacobs again played for Neerpelt, the following season he returned to Vlug and Lenig. Geulle
Geulle (; li, Gäöl ) is a village in the Dutch province of Limburg. It is located in the municipality of Meerssen, about 8 km southwest of Geleen. History The village was first mentioned in 1298 as Gole, and refers to the Geul River which used to flow past the village until the Maas moved two kilometres westwards in the early 15th century. Geulle developed in the Middle Ages at the former confluence of the Geul with the Maas. In 1375, it became part of the . In 1839, it became part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Between 1931 and 1934, the Juliana Canal was dug and the village was split in two parts: Guelle and . The St Martinus Church was first mentioned in 1298. ''Het Parool'' () is an Amsterdam-based daily newspaper. It was first published on 10 February 1941 as a resistance paper during the German occupation of the Netherlands (1940–1945). In English, its name means ''The Password'' or ''The Motto''. History Second World War The paper was preceded by a stenciled newsletter which was started in May 1940 by Frans Goedhart. In late 1940, Wim van Norden joined the group of producers of the newsletter; Van Norden would later serve as director of the newspaper between 1945 and 1979. Jaap Nunes Vaz also became involved with the newspaper. In 1944, the paper, albeit illegal and vigorously persecuted, reached a circulation of approximately 100,000, and it was distributed by the Dutch resistance. The Limburgse Handbal Dagen / Limbourg Handball Days is a handball tournament organized since 1988 in Limburg (Netherlands), especially in the cities of Sittard, Geleen and Beek. The tournament lasts for 3 days with teams from Europe, Africa and Asia. History It all started in the spring of 1988, the year that HV Sittardia HV Sittardia is a Dutch handball club in Sittard. The club was founded in 1949. Sittardia is one of the most successful handball teams in Dutch handball history. They won the Dutch National Championship in 1966, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, ... celebrated their forty-year anniversary. They wanted to organise an international tournament in a celebration of this anniversary.
