Wijk Aan Zee
Wijk aan Zee ( literally ''Neighborhood at Sea'') is a village on the coast of the North Sea in the municipality of Beverwijk, the province of North Holland of the Netherlands. The prestigious Tata Steel Chess Tournament (formerly called the Corus chess tournament or the Hoogovens tournament) takes place there every year. Due to its seaside location, Wijk aan Zee has become a popular destination among tourists. This is reflected in the village economy, which consists to a large extent of bars and hotels. Cultural Village of Europe 1999 In 1999, Wijk aan Zee named itself "Cultural Village of Europe", recognizing the special nature of village life in general. Oostkapelle
Oostkapelle is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is a part of the municipality of Veere, and lies about 9 km north of Middelburg. Oostkapelle was a separate municipality until 1966, when it was merged with Domburg. History The village was first mentioned in 1162 as tHoostcapelle, and means "eastern chapel". Oost (east) has been added to distinguish from Westkapelle. Oostkapelle developed as a circular church village in the Early Middle Ages on a ridge. Westhove Castle was built to the west of the village in 1277 and was owned by the Middelburg Abbey. The Dutch Reformed church is a single aisled church with an attached consistory. Den Helder
Den Helder () is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. Den Helder occupies the northernmost point of the North Holland peninsula. Velsen () is a municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland. It is located on both sides of the North Sea Canal. On the north side of the North Sea Canal there is a major steel plant, Tata Steel IJmuiden, formerly known as ''Koninklijke Hoogovens'' (the town of IJmuiden is actually located south of the canal). The headquarters of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Redding Maatschappij is located in IJmuiden.
