The Wichita Wings were an expansion team for the Major Indoor Soccer League that began play in Hartman Arena, November 2011. The Wichita Wings, in this formation, were a revitalized version of the original Wings franchise that played in the MISL and NPSL for 22 years, before folding in 2001. This incarnation of the Wings shut down after the 2012-13 Major Indoor Soccer League season. Kansas Coliseum
Kansas Coliseum was an entertainment complex in unincorporated Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. It was located north of Wichita at the intersection of I-135 and 85th Street North. It hosted sporting events, concerts, shows, and consisted of four pavilions, an RV park, and the 9,686-seat Britt Brown Arena, named for Harry Britton (Britt) Brown Jr., of Wichita, the former owner of ''The Wichita Eagle'' newspaper. Norman Piper
Norman Piper (born 8 January 1948) is an English former professional footballer who played in England for 13 years before finishing his career in the United States. Playing career Born in North Tawton, Devon on 8 January 1948 he joined Plymouth Argyle as an apprentice and signed professional terms in February 1965. Already an England Youth international, Piper made his debut for the Under 23 side in 1970 against Bulgaria, the year he left The Pilgrims- for whom he scored 35 goals in 221 appearances. Brothers Dan (born 1931) and Frank Carney (April 26, 1938 – December 2, 2020) were American businessmen who founded Pizza Hut, owned by Yum! Brands. Detroit Lightning
The Detroit Lightning was a Major Indoor Soccer League franchise which existed for only one season, 1979–1980. The Lightning finished that season at 15–17. The team's home arena was Cobo Arena. Keith Van Eron is a retired American soccer goalkeeper who played one season in the American Soccer League and three in the North American Soccer League. He also played the first eleven seasons of Major Indoor Soccer League, winning the 1984 championship with the Baltimore Blast. He was the 1986 MISL Goalkeeper of the Year. Player Van Eron attended Hartwick College where he played soccer under Timo Liekoski. He had originally intended to play basketball at Hartwick, but joined the soccer team. Andrew Chapman (born 18 September 1959) is an English-American retired soccer player who saw his greatest success as an indoor player in the United States. He spent six seasons in the American Soccer League, ten in the Major Indoor Soccer League, four in the National Professional Soccer League and two in the Continental Indoor Soccer League. Career Chapman was born in London, England, on 18 September 1959. An Arsenal signee at age 16, he turned pro the following year. Chapman went to the United States in the summer of 1978 to play outdoors for the California Sunshine of the American Soccer League for two seasons. Willie Anderson (footballer)
William John Anderson (born 24 January 1947) is an English former professional footballer who played as a winger. During his career, he made over 350 appearances in the Football League. He began his career as a youth player with Manchester United, making his professional debut at the age of sixteen. However, he struggled to establish himself in the first team, largely due to the emergence of George Best in his position, and was sold to Aston Villa in January 1967 for £20,000. Relegated in his first season, he later helped the club win promotion back to the First Division and made over 200 appearances in all competitions before joining Cardiff City in 1973. With Cardiff, he won promoted to the Second Division and reached three Welsh Cup finals, winning two in 1973 and 1974. Oliver Albert George Ley (born 7 April 1946) is an English former footballer who played professionally in both England and the United States.
