Whiteman Park Railway Station
Whiteman Park railway station is a proposed bus and railway station on the Morley–Ellenbrook railway line in Perth, Western Australia as part of Metronet, serving Whiteman Park and the suburbs of Henley Brook, Dayton, West Swan, and Brabham. History During early planning, an alternative alignment of the Morley-Ellenbrook line in the Tonkin Highway median west of Whiteman Park was considered, but the lack of a station to service the Whiteman Park entrance for tourism, nor the growing nearby suburbs of Henley Brook, Dayton, Brabham, and West Swan, was considered undesirable. Station design Whiteman Park station will be located just south of the Drumpellier Drive entrance to the park. It will include a bus interchange with 10 stands, providing efficient transport links to surrounding suburbs, including the Swan Valley tourist area. Drumpellier Drive
Drumpellier Drive is a north-south road linking Ellenbrook with Reid Highway in the north-eastern suburbs of Perth. The southern section was opened as Lord Street, and was the main link between Ellenbrook and the rest of Perth until the extension of Tonkin Highway north to Gnangara Road. The road corridor has had several proposals put forward for it, including a highway, a bus rapid transit road and a railway. In 2019, a new alignment for Lord Street south of Gnangara Road opened, and it was renamed to Drumpellier Drive, making the naming consistent with the section of road north of Gnangara Road. Route description Drumpellier Drive is a four lane dual carriageway south of Gnangara Road, and a two lane single carriageway north of Gnangara Road. Ellenbrook Railway Station, Perth
Ellenbrook railway station is a proposed bus and railway station for the Transperth network. Construction began in January 2022, and is expected to open in 2024 as the terminus of the Morley–Ellenbrook railway line, serving the Perth suburb of Ellenbrook, Western Australia. Station design Ellenbrook station will feature a island platform, half of which will be sheltered. There will be two car parks either side of the station, with a total of 500 car bays. A dedicated bus interchange with 12 bus stands will be constructed as well, providing feeder bus services to nearby suburbs. Other services to be provided at the station are toilets and a kiosk. The station is deliberately going to be built slightly outside the railway alignment so that when the government wants to extend the railway line, a new station can be constructed at Ellenbrook whilst the old one is still in use. Tonkin Highway
Tonkin Highway is an north–south highway and partial freeway in Perth, Western Australia, linking Perth Airport and Kewdale with the city's north-eastern and south-eastern suburbs. As of April 2020, the northern terminus is at the interchange with Brand Highway and Great Northern Highway in Muchea, and the southern terminus is at Thomas Road in Oakford. It forms the entire length of State Route 4, and connects to several major roads. Besides Brand Highway and Great Northern Highway, it also connects to Reid Highway, Great Eastern Highway, Leach Highway, Roe Highway, and Albany Highway. Planning for the route began in the 1950s, but the first segment between Wattle Grove and Cloverdale was not opened until 1980. Brabham is a suburb located about north-east of Perth's central business district. The suburb is located in the City of Swan just south of Henley Brook, formerly being a part of that suburb before it was gazetted in May 2011. The suburb was named after Australian motor racing personality Sir Jack Brabham who competed in the 1962 Australian Grand Prix, held at the nearby Caversham Airfield. The suburb is part of the City of Swan's urban growth corridor and is bordered by Park Street to the north, Murray Street to the east, Harrow Street to the south and Drumpellier Drive and Isoondon Street to the west. West Swan is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located in the City of Swan local government area. It lies west of the Swan River, and east of the former Caversham Motor Racing Circuit. The suburb is traversed by the West Swan Road, one of the main routes in the Swan Valley winery area. At the 2016 Australian census the suburb had a population of 899. Henley Brook, Western Australia
Henley Brook is an outer rural suburb of Perth, Western Australia, part of the Swan Valley wine region. The Ellen brook and Swan River meet in the northeastern corner of the suburb. This is also the farthest upstream Captain Stirling's 1827 exploration reached before deciding on the settlement site of the new colony in 1829. The All Saints Church, the oldest church in Western Australia, is also at this site. The West Australian Reptile Park is a local tourist attraction. Whiteman Park
Whiteman Park is a bushland area located north of Perth, Western Australia. The park is in the suburb of Whiteman, in the Swan Valley in the upper reaches of the Swan River. It encompasses the source of Bennett Brook - an important place of the Nyoongar people, and a source of mythology of the Wagyl and stories about Aboriginal occupancy of the area. Whiteman Park is known for its biodiversity, including more than 450 endemic plants and more than 120 vertebrate animals (some of which are rare and endangered). More than 17% of Western Australian bird species occur in Whiteman Park, including migratory birds attracted to the habitat provided by Bennett Brook and associated wetlands including Grogan's Swamp, a Conservation Category Wetland. The state government purchased the land from a number of private owners in 1978 to protect the underlying aquifer as a drinking water source for Perth.
