White Rock Wildlife Management Area
The White Rock Wildlife Management Area (WMA) was designated in 1976 as of protected area within the boundaries of the Ozark National Forest. The WMA is owned by the U. S. Forest Service and managed under the provisions of a Memorandum of Understanding by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, and is situated in the Boston Mountains of Northwest Arkansas. Description The Mulberry River runs through the southern part of the WMA and there are four major lakes; Shores Lake, Horsehead Lake, Lake Ft Smith and Lake Shepherd Springs. Fishing, hunting, trapping, and recreational activities such as canoeing, hiking, and observing fauna and viewing flora . Wildlife includes squirrels, deer, wild turkeys, black bears and fur-bearers. Crawford County is a County (United States), county located in the Ozarks region of the U.S. state of Arkansas. Deer
Deer or true deer are hoofed ruminant mammals forming the family Cervidae. The two main groups of deer are the Cervinae, including the muntjac, the elk (wapiti), the red deer, and the fallow deer; and the Capreolinae, including the reindeer (caribou), white-tailed deer, the roe deer, and the moose. Blanchard Springs Caverns
Blanchard Springs Caverns is a cave system located in the Ozark–St. Francis National Forest in Stone County in northern Arkansas, 2 miles off Highway 14 a short distance north of Mountain View. It is the only tourist cave owned by the United States Forest Service and the only one owned by the Federal government outside the National Park System. Blanchard Springs Caverns is a three-level cave system, all of which can be viewed on guided tours. The Dripstone Trail runs through the uppermost level of caverns for about a half-mile and opened in 1973. The Discovery Trail opened in 1977 and loops through a 1.2-mile section of the cavern, descending to the lower level of the cave, 366 feet underground, as well as to the Natural Entrance, about 100 feet below ground at that point, following the stream bed of the springs that created the cavern. Leatherwood Wilderness
The Leatherwood Wilderness, a federally designated wilderness area, is located within the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest in Arkansas is the largest wilderness area in Arkansas. The US Congress designated the Leatherwood Wilderness in 1984 and the US Forest Service manages the land. The Leatherwood Wilderness Area takes its name from Leatherwood Creek, the largest waterway that runs through this wilderness area, and from the Dirca palustris plant, locally known as the leatherwood plant, which is common in streamside zones in the region. Interstate 49
Interstate 49 (I-49) is a north–south Interstate Highway that exists in multiple segments: the original portion entirely within the state of Louisiana with an additional signed portion extending from I-220 in Shreveport to the Arkansas state line, three newer sections in Arkansas, and a new section that opened in Missouri.
